CHAPTER 22
ESTELLE
"Where have you been?" Argon asked, staring at me right in bed.
He was already half naked, waiting for me to step into bed and brighten his mood.
But after that incident at the pathway, I no longer felt like getting naughty but felt like sleeping instead.
"You look rough. Did something happen?" Argon asked, taking note of my appearance.
My hair was rough, my beautiful and expensive robe was looking like a filthy rag. It had a few rip at different corners.
It's ruined in short.
"It's nothing dear. I... Well I had a hell of a ride while coming here, " I said, sighing out.
Dragging my feet, I gently got into bed with Argon, laying next to him.
The heat and scent from his body engulfed my nostrils, taking my mind to that pathway once again.
"I could smell Argon there when I saw that shadow. Should I ask him if he was around at that time?" I pondered on, recalling that monster and it's terrifying appearance.
"No, I don't want to think about it. I feel so weak just picturing that creature," I mumbled, burying my head down on my pillow.
Argon was too busy touching my body and his lips caressing my shoulder. He didn't even sense the distress I was in or even ask if I was okay.
He just wants to have me.
"Why aren't you getting moved?"
"Huh? " I uttered, tilting my head to have a look at Argon's face.
"You don't look excited. I thought you wanted us to have this?" Argon asked, turning me over to face him.
"Yes, I did, but..." I sighed, trying to turn back to the position I was in. But Argon held me from doing so.
Our eyes came locking, as he asked, " What is wrong? Tell me, what happened?"
I could see concern for me in his gaze. He loves me so much and can't bear to see me unhappy.
But what do I tell him?
That I drank a shot and ended up wrestling with an imaginary green eyed wolf? Before I even narrate the whole story, he would have laughed his head off, just like Jerome and the others.
No, I won't tell him.
"Come on, Estelle. What is wrong?" He asked, slowly sliding his hands around my exposed body.
His caress were beginning to get me aroused. I shut my eyes for a brief minute to feel his tingling touch, with smiles slowly creeping across my face.
"It's nothing serious, dear."
"Are you sure?" He asked, sliding his hand to my chest and taking hold of my left boob.
That caused a gasp to escape my lips, with my eyes dimming with pleasure.
Naughty! He always have a way to get me in the mood.
With this intense pleasure revived once again, I decided to bury this thoughts about the pathway and that imaginary beast.
All I wanted now was my Argon.
"Take me, my love. Make me yours, on and on, " I whispered, pulling Argon's head down to mine, locking my lips with his.
We moaned in pleasure, reviving that fire we wanted badly.
"Green eyed wolf? How silly. By morning I'll get that statue thrown away. We can't have that nonsense spiking fear in innocent hearts like mine," I planned within, kissing Argon passionately.
.
"Estelle, can you hear me? Estelle!"
"Who... Who's that?!" I jolted out of my sleep on hearing my name, sitting up in an instant.
My eyes were rolling because I was so tired from the wonderful turn on between Argon and I.
But who the hell was calling me?
On dimming my eyes open a bit, my whole body came shivering, sending my gaze wide opened in an instant.
The door, it was wide open!
"I locked the door. Who opened it?" I uttered, staring at the door in the dark.
The clock beside the bed, showed that it was two in the morning. So, who dared to open the door I locked last night?
"Did I forget to close it? But I remember turning around and shutting it close with the key, " I pondered, feeling confused.
Just as I was staring and trying to recollect if I locked the door, a shadow passed by the room, causing my heart to skip.
My whole body quivered, causing me to drag back into bed, nearing Argon.
"The shadow... Why does it look like the same one from the pathway? " I recalled, feeling scared.
I tried to calm myself by believing I was dreaming, but it wasn't a dream. I had pinched my own skin and felt the pain.
This was no dream!
When I lifted my eyes again at the door, the shadow went by with a swift!
"Argon!" I called, terrified at the movement of this shadow.
"Argon, wake up. There's someone in..." I paused, feeling nothing but the bed.
When I turned to look at the spot my Argon was laying in, it was empty.
Argon wasn't in bed!
"Argon? Where are you?" I called, believing he was in the bathroom.
But I got no response back.
When I called his name for the last time, the shadow moved, making me shiver.
That's when I heard...
"Estelle, what the hell?"
"Argon?" My eyes came large, noticing how the shadow moved, looking like my Argon.
That was him all along?
"I have been calling you but you didn't answer, " He said, sounding upset.
This left me confused though. Why did he leave the room? And why is he just calling me outside instead of stepping into the room?
"Argon, why are you out there? Is something wrong?" I asked, carefully dropping both legs on the floor.
That's when I got a response from Argon, " Nothing is fine, Estelle. Why didn't you tell me that you were attacked?"
"Huh? Attacked?" I froze in astonishment.
Who told him I was attacked?
Was it Jerome and the guards?
But I thought they didn't believe me.
"No, something must have happened. Did he..." I gasped, rising to my feet, getting excited slowly.
"Who told you I was attacked?" I asked, drawing closer to the door, step by step.
Argon sparked out, as I watched his shadow making a move. "Jerome said you were attacked by a beast. I stepped out to attend to something, only to be attacked by a black wolf!"
"Black wolf?! He... He saw it too? "
I was beyond astonished.
So I was right all along. I did see a black green eyed wolf!
And from what Argon is saying, it seems they are haunting the monster down.
Thrilled, I decided to hurry out and join my Argon, and also tell him what had happened to me.
But Argon moved, still talking in anger.
"Argon, wait!" I called, wrapping my robe properly, before rushing out of the room to catch up with Argon.
I came out but didn't see him.
There was no need to think of where he had entered, because there was a turning at the left, making me believe he took that part.
And to prove I was right, I heard him talking in rage.
"My baby. He must be mad because I didn't tell him what happened. I have to calm his mood before he searches for that abomination," I decided, taking that turning, trying to catch up with Argon.
From the first turn, I went into another, and another, until...
I stopped.
"Something doesn't feel right, " I observed, realizing how far I had gotten.
I was now in an empty room in the mansion, having only old furniture covered with sheets.
And funny enough, Argon was no where around.
I remained still, thinking about my sudden move from the room and to this point.
"Throughout the run, I didn't have a glimpse of Argon's back. I just heard his voice, picked his scent and saw... " My mouth dropped slowly.
"The shadow," I completed, flashing to that pathway and the same shadow that moved swiftly.
Not just that, Argon's scent!
"That same shadow had Argon's scent. And when I drew closer..."
All of a sudden, the lights around that area came off.
My heart flew to my chest, thinking of the terrible incident I faced at the pathway.
"No, this can't be real. This is a dream. Wake up, Estelle," I panicked, rushing out from the room and retracing my steps through the dark path I came from.
I was so scared, wishing and praying that I don't come face to face with that beast.
I know I had a strong drink before that encounter. Let it be that all that was my imagination.
As I rushed through the path and came into the third turning with a single spotlight at the centre, a strong smell streamed into my nostrils, sending me to halt at once.
I froze, recognizing the strong odor.
It's... It's the same smell!
It's from it!
Fear overwhelmed my body when I heard something growl in the darkness at the end.
I shivered, looking hard into the dark to see what was there.
That's when I saw it.
Two flashing green eyes came glowing from the dark, making a slow walk towards the light.
"Oh shit! Oh shit!! This can't be real. It can't!" I winced in my spot, still looking straight at those terrifying green eyes.
My knees trembled, almost rendering me paralyzed.
I thought I was seeing things then, but this means I wasn't drunk. I did see a green eyed wolf!
It's real!
Behold, the mighty beast stepped into the light, revealing it's monstrous height while darting its gaze at me.
My mouth dropped when I got a good look at this wolf in the light. It's bigger than what I saw in the darkness.
This is a monster!
"What... Are you?" I stammered, trembling at my spot.
But this beast didn't say a word. It just stared at me, sending chills down my spine.
And I couldn't stop right there. I needed a way out of this situation.
"What are you exactly? Are you some kind of animal mimicking a wolf or what?!"
I questioned, raising my voice at the same time.
Maybe, just maybe, Argon would hear me.
Suddenly, the black wolf chuckled deeply. It sounded like something I've never heard before.
It's a laugh, but a terrifying one.
"A very stupid question to ask, Estelle."
"How did you know my name?" I asked, drawing back on seeing the wolf slowly making its approach.
It gave a wide grin, showing off its long teeth, saying, "That's none of your business. But I do know something that you will soon be aware of."
"What is that? " I asked, drawing further away.
It crawled away from the light and into the dark, with it's eyes shimmering at me. And this left me trembling, because once it's in the dark, I may not see it coming.
"It's simple, Estelle. Your... DEATH!" It roared, advancing fully into the dark, coming for me.
When I saw this, I ran away with speed, racing back through the paths I came from.
The smell of this black beast was getting stronger and stronger, notifying me of how close it was gaining on me.
"Is this how weak you are? You brag to be so great, but your own wolf is as weak as you! " It mocked from behind.
I didn't care about what it was saying but about what it would do when I'm caught.
Panting in fear and running, I began praying for hell from the goddess, begging her to save me.
Suddenly, a door opened up ahead.
Someone was stepping out.
"Is that... Argon?"
Yes! It's Argon!
He was stepping out from one of the rooms with Jerome.
On seeing them, I began to scream out, calling for their help.
"ARGON!! HELP ME!!!" I cried, and my darling Alpha heard me.
He turned around and was stunned to find me running towards him.
"Estelle? What are you doing..."
Before he could complete his question, I dived into his hold, panting out for air.
"Argon! Help me! It's back! " I cried, hiding behind him.
Argon was confused. He couldn't understand why I was crying.
That's when I pointed into the darkness I had dashed out from, sharing, " It's that wolf! The black wolf that tried to kill me before."
"What?!" Argon was stunned.
Only Jerome grabbed what I was saying.
"Wait, the green eyed wolf you talked about?"
"Yes! It's here in this mansion. It's real!" I answered Jerome, shaking.
"It just chased me down from there, almost killing me. This is not a lie. I mean it."
"Green eyed wolf?" Argon uttered, lifting his brow.
Seeing his face expression, I narrated what had happened before and now, so he'd understand the grave situation we're in.
But instead of getting support, Argon and Jerome bursted into laughter!
What is wrong with them?!
"Green eyes? Estelle, stop this nonsense. You must have had a nightmare or something."
"I'm not lying! Go and check quickly before it runs. It...it... Yes, sniff the air. You'll pick its scent," I said, pushing Argon towards the dark path so he'd do as I have said.
He didn't say No to me, but carried out what I wanted.
But when Argon sniffed the air, he didn't pick anything else but mine, Jerome's, and his scent.
"That's impossible. The wolf was chasing me just now."
"Estelle, please," Argon said with laughter all over his face, pulling me closely into his hold.
"My love, I know you got scared and really want me to be in bed with you."
"Argon, that's not..."
"I'm sorry for leaving you alone, okay? " He Interrupted, making promises to me.
Still, he didn't listen to me.
"Please, no more green eyes. I don't want to crack my ribs, " Argon said, laughing and pulling me along with him, heading back to our room.
I know what I saw.
That beast is real.
Why aren't they listening to me?
The lights that went off, came back on, giving Argon and I a clear view back to our room.
With what had happened to me, I doubt if I'll get any sleep.
I can't sleep with that monster lurking around.
I just can't.
What do you think?
