Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 416 The Flag

Earlier that day, the Springriver Manor had also gone through various arrangements in order to prepare for the upcoming Zombie Wave…

Everyone, including the newly arrived recruits yesterday, had been made aware of this upcoming threat…

Raze, one of Shane's most trusted allies, stood atop the outer wall, gazing across the fortified grounds. The Manor had already survived two waves of the undead, and they were bracing themselves for a stronger assault.

There might be casualties among them, so because of that, she couldn't help but feel a bit pressured now that Shane wasn't here.

Previously, they all had nothing to worry about because Shane was there, and for some reason, they believed that he could resolve any issues that might appear.

This time, however, he would no longer be present, and she had to act as the main commander.

'It's good that Roan evolved a couple of days ago… I should be fine. Even if the wave we expected was stronger, Roan's power should be able to handle it.' She thought to herself.

Tomorrow, no one would be exempt from the terror, so they could only prepare.

For the last time, Raze looked at the well-planned territory…

The outer wall, made from reinforced palisades, enclosed the common residences, an expanded orchard, a small farm, barracks, warehouses, a granary, and a modest mansion that Eliot, the Engineer, had made. Raze liked this mansion a lot since Harper had even built an underground tunnel on it leading to three locations: the inner wall's barracks, the church, and the outside.

It was to ensure that they would have an escape route in case they were fully surrounded by the Zombies, enemy Survivors, or the Wild Shelter's Necromancers.

Anyway, aside from those buildings, the outer part of the territory also had eight watchtowers. Each of them was manned by experienced marksmen who had been trained by Lucas to handle rifles...

Beyond this was the inner wall. This time, it was no longer fenced by a palisade but a solid stone barrier that encircled the heart of the Manor.

Inside the inner wall, Raze could see six additional watchtowers, strategically positioned to provide overlapping fields of fire.

The church's spire could also be seen from her position…

Although she couldn't see the other buildings, nearby this church should be the smithy with the nonstop ringing of hammers on metal, preparing weapons and armor for the coming fight.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The stables were also stocked with well-trained horses, while the training grounds were filled with soldiers sparring in preparation.

Aside from that, there should be a small academy for the children where Professor Kenneth should be teaching the children or even the adults who want to read and write.

Beside it, Raze could see the brewery's chimney that puffed out gentle wisps of smoke, and next to it, the bathhouse, a sanctuary of warmth.

Then, a new place was actually created in the inner wall, and that was the Marketplace. It had been set up to allow trading, not only with the residents but also with the outsiders…

Lastly, Eliot built a small temple after being pressured. This temple housed both the Shaman and Monk, and it was located near the stream.

Recalling Aya and Chaloem, Raze couldn't help but smile. These two, especially Aya, had surely increased the power of their normal soldiers.

Aya had several Talismans, and there were two of them that she really liked, they were the Talisman of Lightning and Talisman of Strength. Though Aya could make a Healing Talisman as well, it wasn't as effective as the ones Anna could make in her Alchemy Laboratory.

Raze's gaze fell beyond the outer walls, where three of their Super Soldiers—towering figures clad in reinforced armor—were dealing with a few Spitter Zombies that had wandered too close to their territory. Discover more stories at empire

This was something they would normally do to avoid triggering the one-time-use traps unnecessarily. Of course, this wasn't done every time, and it only happened when the super soldiers or anyone strong enough were close by.

Each Super Soldier was cutting down the Zombies with ease, and with their armor, they couldn't even care less about the Acid Spit.

It was all thanks to the Bile-Coated Armors that Raze had purchased in the Marketplace for these Super Soldiers.

Because of their power, these Spitter Zombies soon collapsed and exploded before being looted.

Raze couldn't help but feel reassured by their presence. These soldiers had been crucial in defending the Manor during the last two waves. What she really liked about this was the fact that Shinja brought more of them.

"Mhmm… What about the other side?" Raze muttered as she squinted her eyes. It seemed that they had also completed their missions.

What she saw was the five bloodied figures approaching the gate. Their movements were fast, but Raze could tell that they were exhausted.

The four Elves, led by Eldrin, had just returned from a mission. Their once-pristine clothes were now torn and stained with blood.

They nodded at Raze to acknowledge her presence and inform her that the mission was done before they entered through the gate…

'They really did well…'

Raze noticed that their quiver was nearly empty… It seemed Eldrin made the right call to use only the bombardment method to complete their task. Thankfully, with the talismans and various items they brought with them, they had enough firepower and eliminated a small Wild Shelter...

She then waved down to them, a sign of recognition and gratitude for their efforts.

As for the last elf that was missing, Aranion, he had actually been sent on a scouting mission to gather intel on nearby Zombie movements and to assess if any new threats lurked in the woods surrounding the Manor.

"It was a weak Necromancer. We only got a Beginner Shelter Crystal…" Eldrin as he passed Raze.

"Tell me everything," Raze responded…

Raze was actually a bit concerned after realizing that there was a sudden increase in the number of Wild Shelters in their surroundings. Although they were weak, Raze knew that they had the potential to grow stronger.

Because of that, she would send the Elves, the Knights, or even Shinja and Layla together in order to eliminate these shelters that could threaten them or become a competition for the resources nearby.

As she made her way back toward the Manor, her Chat Messaging System beeped.

It was Shane. The message appeared, and she quickly tapped to respond.

[ Shane: How's the situation there? We're nearly ready on this side. Just finished setting up a new defense. ]

Raze replied back swiftly.

[ Raze: We should be ready. Anna had made several improvements to our Dragon's Veil Elixir… Just a single drop of Dragon's Blood could make 30 potions. It's a great item for the next Zombie Wave. ]

There was a brief pause before Shane replied.

[ Shane: Sounds great… What about the previous terrorists? Was it a guy with terrorist talent? ]

[ Raze: Oh, yes. You're referring to Tundra's group, right? They're a really interesting bunch… They joined us so willingly. They probably felt secure with our stable source of food and water. Mr. Wadsworth had done really well.

]

Shane nodded after reading this message. There was no doubt that Tundra's group was a great addition to their ranks. After all, Shane had heard about Tundra's Talent and his partner's talent.

Tundra's Talent was even an Epic One.

[ Terrorist ( Epic Talent ): Survivor Terrorist possesses the ability to plant invisible bombs on those they touch. The strength of these invisible bombs is directly tied to the level the Terrorists have acquired as a Survivor. The higher the level, the more devastating the explosive power contained within.

If not triggered within 24 hours, however, the bomb will dissipate harmlessly from the target… ]

This was such a powerful Talent since any item could become an explosive… It was a pity that with only 500 Spirit Points, he couldn't do a lot of bombs since he would need about 20 to 50 points.

Then, his partner, Jillian, has the best Support Type Talent in Springriver Manor right now.

[ Famous Bard ( Epic Talent ): A Survivor who wields the power of music and storytelling to inspire allies, manipulate emotions, and cast magical effects through their performances. The Bard's melodic tunes can heal wounds, boost morale, or even charm enemies… ]

Shane hadn't met these people yet, but he knew that he would like them.

[ Shane: I will send some Spirit Stones and Spirit Breakthrough Potions and give them to Tundra… ]

Raze's eyes lit up after seeing this message. She actually wanted to give such items to Tundra as well, but she only had enough for herself.

Thankfully, Shane thought of providing some to Tundra in order to maximize his talent… In any case, their Clan Level had already reached Level 3, and the trading between fellow Clan Members had become much more accessible.

[ Raze: That's a great idea… Make sure to give enough Spirit Stones, I'll be making him work till morning… ]

[ Shane: Hahaha… Don't abuse him too much… Anyway, good luck to us tomorrow. We can do this… Let's chat again after the Zombie Wave. ]

[ Raze: Hey, don't raise the flag! ]
