Chapter 360: 360: I'm Not Your Daughter (First Part)
Chapter 360: Chapter 360: I’m Not Your Daughter (First Part)
Rose Taylor looked at the lifeless Lincoln Green on the hospital bed, her eyes full of coldness, but her voice carried a hint of persuasion. “Lincoln, she is the one responsible for the death of the woman you loved the most. You hate her so much. Do you really want to give your property to her? Don’t forget how she took over your company and drove you out of the hospital…”
Today, she just wanted to plant a thorn in Lincoln Green’s heart. To make him give up the idea of leaving his property to Abigail Green.
She also wanted Abigail Green to know that she was a murderer and didn’t deserve to inherit the Green family’s property.
“Get out!” After a while, Lincoln Green looked up with bloodshot eyes and roared at Rose Taylor to leave.
Rose Taylor knew Lincoln Green too well. She knew she had successfully aroused his disgust and hatred for Abigail Green. She gave Abigail a provocative smile, then turned and left the ward.
The ward suddenly became very quiet, as if one could hear a pin drop.
After a while, Abigail finally looked up, gazing at the weak old man on the hospital bed. She had always thought he was powerful, selfish, arrogant, and even stupid.
She also thought that all his actions towards Abigail Green were because of the Taylor mother and daughter. Now she knew this man’s heart had hatred for her.
So this led to the prejudice against her, which ultimately resulted in everything.
But was this really an excuse for him to hurt his daughter?
“So this time, do you agree with what Rose Taylor said?” After a while, Abigail gently asked.
Lincoln Green on the hospital bed was full of exhaustion. He nodded and then shook his head.
He didn’t know what to say. Over the years, whether in business or life, he had deviated from his original intentions and had even forgotten that the girl in front of him was his own daughter.
His and Minnie’s biological daughter.
“Abby…Abigail…”
Abigail looked at the elderly man on the hospital bed. It had only been four months since she had been reborn and first met him, but the changes in the man before her were earth-shattering.
She knew this was not only physical suffering but also severe psychological trauma.
From that day’s surveillance, Abigail knew very well that Rose Taylor had almost destroyed Lincoln Green’s pride and dignity for life.
And his understanding of feelings.
But she didn’t sympathize with him at all.
Looking at the frail old man in front of her, Abigail thought more about his neglect of Abigail Green and his indulgence of the Taylor mother and daughter, which ultimately led to Abigail’s tragic childhood and eventual death.
Even if Abigail Green was guilty back then, the punishment shouldn’t have been so severe.
Moreover, it was a mistake made by a three-year-old child. She believed that Minnie Swift would never blame her daughter.
And if this man truly loved his wife, he wouldn’t genuinely hate his daughter. He wouldn’t ignore her for so many years to escape his own pain.
If he had any sense of responsibility or love for his daughter, things wouldn’t have turned out the worst.
But he never knew the mistakes he made. He kept listening to the provocations of that mother and daughter, pushing his own daughter away, even wanting her to marry Clark Stone for benefits. He tried to exercise his father’s authority over and over again, letting that mother and daughter bully her.
Even just now, he still harbored resentment towards her because of Rose Taylor’s words.
It was simply ridiculous.
All of this was something Abigail could never forgive.
Although she never had a father, she knew Lincoln Green was not fit to be one.
Lincoln Green felt his daughter’s coldness. His eyes, which had lost their brightness due to Rose Taylor’s provocation, became even darker. “Abigail, Dad knows he was wrong. Dad doesn’t blame you anymore.”
“But I blame you.” Abigail looked at him and answered lightly.
“I…”
“You don’t even know what you did wrong,” Abigail interrupted Lincoln Green.
“I know, Abigail, I know.” Lincoln Green became agitated. Ever since Rose Taylor left that day, he had been reflecting on his life over the years and realized it wasn’t Abigail who was rude or indifferent. It wasn’t Abigail who was domineering, ungrateful, or heartless.
But he had been deceived, deceived by that mother and daughter.
Abigail looked at the agitated Lincoln Green, who wanted to admit his mistakes. She suddenly turned around, pulled a tiny monitor from the flower basket beside her, then turned back to look at Lincoln Green. “What have you realized?”
“I know Rose Taylor is not a good person. Over the years, she and Ruby have been acting. They bullied you, which is why you hate them so much. Isn’t that right?” Lincoln Green said in a low voice.
“What else?”
“And I shouldn’t have blindly believed others. I’ve been thinking a lot these past few days. Everything was my fault. I neglected you. It wasn’t that you were domineering or willful. They deliberately framed you, right?” Lincoln Green said with shame. This hospital stay made him truly understand human warmth.
“Do you want to listen to what I have to say?” Abigail looked at the person on the hospital bed. If it were her, she would never have said so much to Lincoln Green. But someone died, and she couldn’t let her die silently without anyone knowing, including her father.
Lincoln Green saw his daughter was still willing to talk to him and quickly nodded. “Abigail, you say. You say, and I’ll listen.”
Abigail sneered. If Lincoln Green had spoken to the original Abigail like this from the beginning, would things have turned out this way?
But there were no “what ifs.”
She looked at the man on the hospital bed, closed her eyes, and immersed herself in the deepest memories of this body. “When I was eight, Rose Taylor brought Ruby Green into the Green’s house. Because you said I had to be sensible, Ruby said she liked my room, so I gave her my room. I gave it up for ten years.”
“The same year, you hired a piano teacher for us. Ruby deliberately broke my piano but stood in front of you and cried, saying she did it. Her mother inadvertently said I was young and should be punished instead. You flew into a rage and locked me in the storage room for a day and a night. From then on, the storage room became my bedroom, where I slept for ten years.”
“At nine, Ruby and I were learning to dance together. Her mother and she locked me outside the study and ordered me to mop the entire villa before I could go to class. I knelt and mopped the floor all day. My knees were bruised, and I couldn’t stand. Rose Taylor told you I was fussy with the teacher and was causing trouble. You thought I wasn’t diligent and was acting out, so you locked me up without food or sleep. I was hungry and cold, crying all night…”
“At twelve, in middle school, Ruby spread rumors that I was the Green family’s illegitimate child and that my mother was a slut. They locked me in the bathroom and poured rancid water over me. I walked home, stinking and foul. From then on, my middle school and high school years were spent in such bullying. You only saw me become more and more withdrawn.”
“Abigail!” Lincoln Green couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“At Ruby’s birthday party, she took advantage of my crush on Clark Stone, tricked me into going to the hotel, and got thugs to ruin me completely to kick me out of the Green family. I mistakenly entered Brandon Piers’ room.”
“When Ruby found out, she switched places with me that morning and went into the second young master’s room. Three months later, I found out I was pregnant. The mother and daughter planned to elevate their status through the child, threatening me to give birth for her. Otherwise, they would tell you I was promiscuous and get you to kick me out of the Green family…”
“Abigail, I didn’t know. I didn’t know…”
What do you think?
