Absolute Death Game

Chapter 120 - 113: Waving the Tiger’s Skin as a Banner_2

He chose to purify his equipment again, and then handed over the cursed Pale Ring. This time, it was much easier, as Xuanxu Zi merely rubbed the ring in his hands a few times. As a burst of white light twinkled in his hands, the ring was completely purified.

Flawless White Jade Ring (Silver—Ring): health points upper limit +100, Luck +2.5.

Equipment description: This white jade ring seems to be filled with surging vitality.

What a great item! A single ring could increase the maximum health points by a full 100 and even add 2.5 to Luck—it’s definitely a great item! But why is it silver-ranked?

Xiao Buli asked curiously, "Isn’t this ring supposed to be a growth-type piece of equipment?"

Xuanxu Zi said, "That’s true, but your ring is of moderate grade among growth-type equipment. Its attributes have now reached their limit, so after dissolving its malice, the equipment’s grade is henceforth fixed, and it won’t grow any further."

That made sense, but even so, it was still a huge gain. After all, the previous silver-grade equipment with a -2.5 Luck had made it quite useless.

Xiao Buli thought about it while putting the ring on his finger. Seeing his health points exceeding 300, he was thoroughly satisfied. His Luck Value had also broken through 10 points for the first time after the Lu Jiang incident, reaching 10.5. He was just a bit luckier than the average person now—at least he wouldn’t be as unlucky as before.

However, even though he had dealt with the ring and Maoqiu, he still had 300 Contribution Value points left unspent. Since he had come back, he might as well learn a few spells, but unfortunately, the cheapest of the second-level spells in the skill exchange list cost 100 points each.

He wasn’t in urgent need of offensive spells at the moment. Rather, he preferred learning life-saving spells, such as the much-anticipated Lesser Invisibility Spell, among others that were good for survival. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

Lesser Invisibility Spell (1.5 seconds casting): Renders the caster into a non-absolute state of invisibility, making it difficult for nearby enemies to detect your presence. Any attack, spell casting, or getting attacked will break this effect, lasting 30 seconds.

Learning requirements: Taoist Heart LV2, Prestige with Mystic Hollow Palace Friendly, spiritual power 20 points. Contribution Value 120 points.

Mirror Image Skills (2 seconds casting): Creates a mirror image with autonomous motion to draw enemy fire. The mirror image has the same health points and Armor Value as the caster, but it cannot attack and takes double damage. It lasts for 30 seconds and consumes 20 Mana.

Learning requirements: Taoist Heart LV2, Prestige with Mystic Hollow Palace Friendly, spiritual power 22 points. Contribution Value 140 points.

Earth Escape Skills (2 seconds casting): Transforms into earth and burrows into the ground, disappearing from the enemy’s sight. While burrowed, the caster cannot move until the effect is cancelled, consuming 15 Mana and an additional 1 Mana per minute while in a burrowed state.

Learning requirements: Taoist Heart LV2, Prestige with Mystic Hollow Palace Friendly, spiritual power 26 points. Contribution Value 160 points.

Earth Walking Skills (Passive Skill): When in Burrow Form, allows you to move slowly, consuming 2 Mana per minute during movement.

Learning requirements: Taoist Heart LV2, Prestige with Mystic Hollow Palace Friendly, spiritual power 30 points. Contribution Value 140.

All were excellent survival skills, but since he didn’t have many Contribution Value points left, he had to choose selectively.

After hesitating for a long time, he eventually chose the Lesser Invisibility Spell. In terms of life-saving effects, Earth Escape Skills were more practical, but they were no good on cement surfaces. They might work in the game, but they weren’t as useful in reality, particularly for the upcoming test at the end of the month. So, he gave it up.

Compared to that, the Lesser Invisibility Spell was an absolutely useful spell for both life-saving and stealth, especially in real life.

After paying 120 Contribution Value points, Xiao Buli’s Skill Bar now included this skill.

Xiao Buli was also interested in the ’Thousand-mile Sound Transmission’ spell that Xuanxu Zi had used, which was a basic feature in other games but an outright BUG in this one. He browsed through it again and indeed found what he was looking for in the third-level spell section.

Thousand-mile Sound Transmission (Instant Cast Spell): Establishes a mental connection with a distant target, allowing you to communicate with them across a thousand miles. It consumes 10 Mana, with an additional 1 Mana consumed per communication.

Learning requirements: Taoist Heart LV4, Prestige with Mystic Hollow Palace Revered, spiritual power 30 points, Contribution Value 300 points.

It was great, but unfortunately, it was something he couldn’t learn in the short term. However, there seemed to be a nerfed version that he could learn right away.

Secret Sound Transmission (Instant Cast Spell): Establishes a mental connection with a nearby target, allowing you to communicate silently. The casting range is 30 meters, consuming 10 Mana.

Learning requirements: Taoist Heart LV2, Prestige with Mystic Hollow Palace Friendly, spiritual power 20 points, Contribution Value 100 points.

This spell was quite practical. After a moment of hesitation, Xiao Buli decided to learn it. It might come in handy when giving instructions to those around him during a crisis.

Having learned these two Spells, he had only 80 Contribution Value points left, not enough to learn any spell above the second level. As he gazed at all the powerful spells he couldn’t learn, Xiao Buli felt genuine pain and couldn’t help but think to himself, "This won’t do, I must find a way to earn more Contribution Value points quickly.

Earning them through labor is too slow, and I don’t have the time. It seems I’ll have to rely on doing tasks."
