Chapter 933: Ji Qingwei and Si Fuqing’s Fundamental Difference (3)
“Captain!” a young man shouted, “We rescued a baby girl, and she’s in good condition!”
Any news of a successful rescue brought a glimmer of hope.
JIANG Shuihan quickly walked over and took the baby in his arms. “Is she the only one?” he asked.
The question caused the young men to fall silent.
The baby’s mother had not survived.
Without saying another word, JIANG Shuihan handed the baby to a doctor.
Medical resources and rescue personnel were extremely scarce at the moment.
After six continuous hours of nonstop rescue efforts, even the specially trained members of the Thousand Army Alliance were reaching their physical and mental limits.
But they all knew they couldn’t stop.
Every second of delay would mean more deaths.
“Captain, the Spirit Alliance team is arriving soon,” Shang Lu panted, catching his breath. “Once they’re here, the rescue will go much smoother.”
JIANG Shuihan took a sip of water. “Is the chief coming as well?”
“Yes, the chief is already on his way,” Shang Lu confirmed. “She’s a fan of Miss Si, surname Xie.”
“Good,” JIANG Shuihan said, taking a deep breath. “Make sure everyone replenishes their energy to maintain their strength.”
As they spoke, sudden exclamations erupted nearby.
“Miss, how did you get here? This place is dangerous. Let me escort you out.”
Both JIANG Shuihan and Shang Lu turned their heads simultaneously.
When they saw who had arrived, Shang Lu’s pupils constricted in shock. “Miss Si?!”
With air traffic control in place, planes couldn’t get through.
Landslides had destroyed the train tracks, bringing train services to a halt.
Yet, Si Fuqing had arrived.
Shang Lu knew she had been returning from Mo City and that her plane had been grounded due to the storm.
Logically, she should have been waiting with the other passengers for the rescue team.
But here she was.
This meant she had walked the entire fifty kilometers to this rain-battered city.
Shang Lu didn’t have time to ponder further; he grabbed an umbrella and rushed out.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
He knew Si Fuqing was an evolved being, with a physique far stronger than ordinary humans.
But even evolved beings were still human, not gods.
The front lines were so perilous that even JIANG Shuihan couldn’t fully describe the danger.
The rain had come without warning and showed no signs of stopping.
“Yes,” Si Fuqing said, pausing briefly. “Do you have any water?”
Shang Lu quickly handed her a bottle of mineral water.
Si Fuqing drank it all in one go.
At that moment, Ji Qingyao entered, carrying an elderly woman on her back. She placed the woman on a stretcher and was about to report to JIANG Shuihan when she looked up and froze. “Qingqing?”
She had never expected to see Si Fuqing here.
After all, rescue work wasn’t Si Fuqing’s responsibility.
Ji Qingyao took a deep breath, her fingers trembling slightly.
She had borrowed some of Si Fuqing’s luck, becoming more like her, even gaining some of her abilities.
But taking luck didn’t make her Si Fuqing.
During the storm, Ji Qingyao had stayed home, loved and protected by her parents. Si Fuqing could have stayed home too, but she had come without hesitation.
This was the fundamental difference between Ji Qingyao and Si Fuqing.
It wasn’t about abilities or glory.
Si Fuqing wiped the rain from her face and entered the temporary tent. “Where are the injured?”
Mud mixed with rainwater dripped from her face, and her clothes were covered in dirt, a stark contrast to the glamorous star seen on TV.
Everyone stared at her, stunned, unable to react.
“I’m a doctor now. Please trust me,” she said.
