Chapter 641: Chapter 641: Judging by Appearances_1
After exchanging pleasantries, each group dispersed. Purple Summers accompanied Zara Jameson upstairs to retrieve her guqin, while Gerald Graves continued to help Violet Nelson choose a guqin on the first floor.
This music store was a century-old brand that not only sold instruments but also provided maintenance and repair services. The store’s famous luthiers only made five guqins each year, and each could sell for a high price of over a hundred thousand; if auctioned, the price would be even higher.
The staff took them to the VIP room, then brought Zara’s guqin, tested the sound on the spot, and repackaged it.
The guqin was heavy, so Ryan Wesley carried it the whole time.
Ryan Wesley took this opportunity to say to Zara Jameson, “Zara, this thing is so heavy. Next time, let me come with you. With Jane McCain’s skinny arms, she wouldn’t be able to hold it. They’re not even as thick as the strings.”
Jane immediately retorted, “Next time? Are you cursing Zara’s guqin to break again?”
Ryan Wesley felt deflated and wanted to tear Jane McCain to pieces, but since she was Zara Jameson’s good friend, all he could do was sulk and close his mouth.
They ran into Gerald Graves and Violet Nelson again downstairs.
“…the surface is made of top-quality paulownia wood, with genuine ancient-style raw lacquer. The grey base uses deer horn frost, and such a guqin will have a sound that’s loose, mellow, and could remain unproblematic even for a few hundred years,” the shop assistant was earnestly recommending to Violet Nelson.
Violet seemed quite satisfied, nodding slightly with an air of elegance and grace.
Her eyes glanced around and seeing Purple Summers and her friends coming over with a guqin as well, she couldn’t help but ask, “What kind of guqin is this you have?”
Zara Jameson looked at the guqin the staff was packing, knowing it was very valuable, and said with embarrassment, “My guqin is just an ordinary practice one.”
“Why not buy a better one?” Violet Nelson smiled gently, “If the guqin is better, the player’s mood will also be better.”
“I’ve only started learning a few years ago. I want to wait until my skills are refined before buying a better one, to avoid letting the luthier’s hard work go to waste,” Zara Jameson replied.
The Jameson Family was more about modesty and propriety, not the sort to splurge recklessly. Zara’s response was sensible, but somehow it seemed to have irked Violet Nelson.
Violet’s smile remained on her face, but her eyes turned cold in an instant.
At this moment, the shop assistant had finished packing the guqin properly, and Violet Nelson gave them a distant and polite smile before leaving with Gerald Graves.
The Bugatti Veyron parked outside was indeed Gerald Graves’ car. He carefully placed the guqin in the back seat and then drove Violet Nelson away.
Purple Summers and her group were all baffled.
“That Miss Nelson has quite the temper,” Jane McCain complained, once they had left, “It’s like just because she’s from Kingsley, she thinks she’s better than everyone.”
Zara Jameson felt a bit uncomfortable having had someone be rude to her, “From Second Young Master Graves’ behavior, that Miss Nelson must have quite the background.”
Ryan Wesley, who was careless, didn’t notice Violet Nelson’s change in expression and just urged them, “Let’s hurry up and leave, this guqin is so heavy!”
He was nearly unable to carry it anymore.
Everyone gave Ryan Wesley a disdainful look, then they all left the music store and got into the car.
“I might know who this Violet Nelson is,” Jane McCain said in the car, sharing gossip with them, “Didn’t Second Young Master Graves say her uncle is a senator? I heard that the Simonson Family might be entering into marriage with the Graves Family. Her uncle must be Christopher Simonson!”
Ryan Wesley asked, “Who is Christopher Simonson?”
“Oh my god, don’t you watch the news? He’s a hot candidate for president!” Jane laughed and said, “Oh right, you wouldn’t know, your school is isolated from the world, haha!”
Ryan Wesley huffed in response.
Zara Jameson laughed, “Janie, I thought you only followed celebrities. I didn’t know you were also interested in politics.”
“I usually don’t care, but Christopher Simonson is quite handsome,” Jane McCain said giggling, “I even voted for him because he looks a little like Purple Summers. It feels familiar to me when I see his face.”
“Really? I’ll have to cast a vote for him too,” Zara Jameson said with a laugh.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Both of them were over eighteen and could participate in voting during the election.
Ryan Wesley, who was driving in front, was speechless, “Do we have to consider appearances when choosing a president now?”
