Chapter 758: Grabs
Chapter 758: Grabs
The rapid beating of City Lord Guiz's heart thrummed in his ears like thunder. For a moment, his thoughts went blank and he didn't know how to respond.
He was still dealing with the backlash of overstepping his bounds. He could feel that his connection with the city had been weakened considerably and his City Lord Title was no longer as effective.
But as an extension of that, he was also very close to being sensed by the system. Without the shroud of his City Lord Position, he would end up not much different from the Dogon.
The panic of watching everything crumble before his eyes was hitting him like a continuous sledgehammer to the chest. No matter how deeply he breathed, it didn't seem to be enough. Then came the hatred. He had lost his family, and now he was he was on the verge of losing everything he had sacrificed just to stand here today.
All because of this damned Human ant.
Rage billowed in his chest, a storm brewing in the depths of his eyes.
He didn't know what to do- until he suddenly did.
Exhaling a breath, Plinli closed his eyes. He had almost forgotten that he had already been prepared for this inevitably.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I will be adding evading arrest to your list of crimes. Challenging the City Lord position isn't so easy, fool. You will not be able to gather the support you need. Kill him."
Since he had already suffered the backlash, he might as well follow through with Sylas' death.
However...
"Is that so?" Sylas asked. "What do you think, Duke Kraga? Duchess Ravene?"
City Lord Guiz felt his heart skip another beat, suddenly remembering that Sylas had called for the two Dukes a couple days ago.
No, that's not possible. He had already dealt with the situation perfectly.
Much like he had when he challenged the General, Sylas needed majority support of the Dukes to complete his challenge. The only other way was to become to become a Duke himself and then levy a challenge.
Obviously, he wasn't a Duke, so he had no choice but to rely on the Dukes.
Duke Kraga. Duchess Ravene. Duke Guiz.
Duke Guiz was obviously a member of Plinli's family and was firmly in his camp, and since the last failure, Plinli and Broussard had put a great deal of effort into pocketing the others.
It was impossible for-
"We stand with General Grimblade." Duke Kraga and Duchess Ravene said at the same time. The two had a hardly hidden fervor as they stared toward Sylas. It looked like they would kill themselves promptly if he asked them to. Their loyalty stretched as far as their lives did.
City Lord Guiz froze.
A fluctuation rippled around Sylas, one violet Rune after another taking shape.
With a step, he rose into the skies.
BANG!
The two reapers felt their chest explode. They collapsed to the ground, their eyes glazing
over.
Their hoods fell from their faces, and one of them was one that was very familiar... a particularly distasteful Colonel.
The shock of watching a man rise into the skies was palpable for the citizens of Guiz. This was clearly not something that they were used to, but it only made Sylas' position in their hearts skyrocket.
The clinking of armor rang out as Sylas' Scorpion Warlord Armor took shape, a beautiful cascade of flickering violet colors radiating beneath the rays of the sun.
Soon, Sylas stood on the same height that City Lord Guiz did. But the difference between them was clear and obvious.
One could only rely on a building.
The other called the wind itself his platform.
The formations of the city trembled as though it sensed something. The acquiescence of the Dukes had sealed a contract in place.
The City Lord position was now up for grabs.

Professor Broussard sat behind his desk.
The man could only be described as elegant and noble, carrying a refined air to him that exuded from a place of confidence, self assurance, and discipline.
He wore a pair of clear framed glasses, a perfectly pressed and fitted suit clinging to his shoulders.
His hair looked slightly moist, carrying a natural sheen to it that made it look almost as though he had only just stepped out of the shower although this wasn't the case.
A report sat on his desk and he shifted through the papers one after another, reading with an inhuman speed. One would think that he was skimming and skipping a bunch, but those that knew him knew that this wasn't something he would ever do.
Meticulous to a fault... that was how many described him.
He finally put down the last page of the report.
"Something is wrong." He said lightly.
His secretary froze, her body shivering. She tried her best to stay in place, but the fear was practically oozing out of her.
Professor Broussard adjusted his glasses.
"They're hiding something from me."
The secretary exhaled an internal sigh of relief. By the words, this shouldn't be her fault. Hopefully that would mean that she was safe.
"Indeed, it seems that these Sylphs cannot be trusted. They will ruin everything if you let them. It's a good thing that I have my own plans."
A crown flickered above the Professor's head before it vanished. His moist looking hair shifting positions naturally into a new style that fit his new mood better, but no less elegant
than the last.
He stood to his feet, unzipping his pants.
"Bend over." He said calmly.
The secretary hurriedly nodded, hiking up her skirt and not daring to delay. The rip to her pantyhose came not even seconds later and she felt a rod pierce her through.
She clenched her jaw as her eyes rolled with pleasure. The Professor didn't like her to make noise, feeling that they would interrupt his thoughts, so she could only do this. "Cassarae Hale..." Professor Broussard spoke slowly with a glint in his eyes, his hips moving in an almost absent minded rhythm. "Your mother didn't want to cooperate, but I'm still very much looking forward to tasting you."
