Chapter 449 – Tough Start
Gua Culinary School was 3 KM away from their seaside hotel. Max and Lily ran at a fast speed to the road. There, someone was waiting for them.
"Ah, over here! Get in!"
It was Gloria. And she was wearing a bunny costume, the traditional one, with black stockings. However, instead of high heels, she was wearing comfortable sneakers, which looked slightly strange.
Max nodded at Lily and they jumped into the hover car.
"Go to Gua Culinary School!"
"Alright. It will take no longer than 5 minutes."
After the door was closed, Gloria entered and immediately stepped on the accelerator. She didn't hesitate and even started to blast music.
The scenery outside moved faster than when they were running. Having time to rest a little, Max finally decided to ask.
"Can you really do this?"
It was something he wanted to ask before, but wasting time wasn't wise. So, he decided to ask now. He might be eliminated now, but that just means that he was unlucky trusting this girl.
"Yes, we're instructed to help participants in this stage. And we have a chance to appear in the program too with this!" Gloria answered with a giggle.
That reassured Max. But also invited another question.
"Why are you waiting on that road? The other guide should be in the set. I think I spotted two people with a tense expression before, wearing what seemed like reflective clothes to stand out among the others."
Right. Two hover cars were also parked nearby the hotel.
At first, Max thought nothing of them. But now, he knew they were the guides' to take the participants to the test area.
"Well, that road is the closest one to Gua Culinary School. If we start from the hotel, it will take us more than 10 minutes. But if you run to the road, it will only take 30 seconds! We save more than 5 minutes by doing that!" Gloria explained, her guide instinct kicked in.
An explanation that Max could accept. Lily was surprised and let out a long 'oooh'. But there was still a question that remained.
"Then, why are you wearing the bunny outfit?"
Gloria glanced at them and her tongue jutted out, "Hehe, I took the wrong costume and didn't bring my reflective vest. So to stand out, I wear this. Aren't I a genius?"
"No, you're just a fool." Max retorted coldly, leaving no mercy for this disappointing woman.
"Meanie!" The guide shouted, looking surprised by his bluntness. "But it worked. As proof, you recognized me right away."
"She's right, Ma– Breeze. It worked." Lily nodded. It was unexpected for her to support Gloria.
"Miss Lily! I know you understand me!" Gloria was on the verge of crying.
"Hnn, bunny lovers should help each other." Lily smiled at the disappointing girl. "And the costume is cute. I like it."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
'Ah, right.' Max smiled wryly at his girlfriend, 'She loves bunnies. Of course she took Gloria's side this time.'
That led to a realization.
'If Lily is mad at me again, I should just dress like a bunny.'
***
Gua Culinary School's students were nervous.
BioShow, one of a big company Punchtube channel had reached out to them for a collaboration of their event, Couple Paradise Island.
They were told that they were going to get to do the cooking for the main event. A test, to harass the participants and make them give up.
The idea they had was to make a specialized meal for each participant, something they absolutely hated and disliked so they wouldn't even touch it.
A total of 6 participants. Meant, they had to prepare 6 different meals. And it was easy for them, mainly because four of the six participants disliked food that was easy to find in their profile, due to them being idols and actors who shared their private lives.
On the other hand, the two participants were hard to investigate. One of them was a famous streamer, while his girlfriend was an anonymous diva who recently revealed her face.
Their information wasn't spread because they never talked about themselves.
Fortunately, one of the students was close to the said streamer.
"You really saved us, Nina." Professor Mugio, the owner of the culinary school and a renowned chef, said with a relieved expression.
He was an old man with a white beard, wearing a white chef uniform. He looked like a very gentle old man, but in the kitchen, he was like a war veteran.
"Hahaha, it's nothing, Professor. But, please don't expect much. Ma- Breeze is one thing, but Lily is another. I don't know much about her food preference. The best I can do is try to make her dislike it." Nina said.
The school was a bit worried, but it was all thanks to Nina that this worry was resolved.
"Oh, right. Why didn't you tell me your friend was such a famous streamer?" Mugio asked.
"I didn't think it was important. I've known him for years, and we're just good friends. Besides, do I need to say that he's my friend? Would it have been a problem if I didn't? I just wanted to learn in this school and not bring any trouble for me or my friends."
Mugio smiled wryly. "Well, I can't argue with that. Sorry, Nina. There is indeed no need to announce that you're friends with a famous streamer."
"It's okay, Professor. Anyway, I better go. They will arrive soon."
"The meals are already prepared. It's okay to relax a little."
"No can do, professor. This meal will only have an impact if it's hot." Nina said before leaving the professor behind.
At first, she only did this to get a good grade. But then, she now also wanted to see Max's surprised face and his reaction to the food she prepared.
'Hehehe, it would be amusing.'
Nina stood behind a table with two trays. The trays were kept under a lid that kept the meal inside warm.
There were four other people standing behind the individual table. Each person was responsible for each participant's meal. Only Nina was responsible for two because only she knew Max and Lily's preferences.
Time seemed to pass slowly. But Nina, being the secret leader of Secretly Handsome Lair, knew better. Max would definitely arrive first.
"We've arrived!"
The door burst open and two people entered. It was Max and Lily. They were looking around and their gazes stopped at Nina who approached them.
"Welcome to Gua Culinary School test!" She brought the tray to them and smiled brightly while they were confused, "Now, for the test, please eat these meals I prepared! You need to eat them without leaving anything, and only then will I give the key to you."
With that, she opened the lids of the two trays and revealed the meals inside.
One was Rush Noodle, specially made with blue noodles. Max's name was written on the bowl.
The other was a bright red Rush Noodle. Just from the color alone, one could imagine how spicy it was. Lily's name was written on the bowl.
Upon seeing the blue noodles, Max's face crumpled in disgust.
"You're fucking kidding me."
A curse escaped his mouth involuntarily, and as a reward for that, he got an elbow from Lily.
"Language."
