Chapter 2111: Date with Kaori and Olivia ①
<Author's Notes>
I got home pretty late, so today's chapter is short.
The restaurant Olivia-san had reserved was, as Eris-san mentioned, a highly popular establishment, exuding a chic atmosphere from its exterior alone.
Rather than giving off the vibe of an ultra-luxury establishment, it seemed to prioritize aesthetics, blending well with the red-brick townscape. Its slightly retro yet warm ambiance was something I found quite appealing.
However, one thing caught my attention. A staff member, presumably a waiter, stood at the restaurant’s entrance, bowing deeply upon seeing us. Is this the kind of place where guests are greeted like this?
But then, as we got closer, I noticed something strange———– despite it being lunchtime, there didn’t seem to be any other customers inside.
[I’m Olivia, who made the reservation.]
[We’ve been expecting you. Please allow me to show you to your table.]
The tension and sense of humility radiating from the supposed waiter were palpable…… Ah, I see now. Since Olivia-san made the reservation, it’s only natural that the staff knew she was a high-ranking figure.
This likely wasn’t Olivia-san renting out the place, but rather the restaurant deciding to ensure no mishaps occurred by creating a private setting for her.[……Kaito-kun, do you think they see us as some kind of super VIPs?]
[I’m almost certain they do. My Sympathy Magic is picking up on a lot of nervousness from them……]
Kaori-san, likely having reached the same conclusion as me, whispered her thoughts, and I responded in kind.
Well, while it was a bit surprising, I can see the logic behind it. Besides, for us, it was actually convenient not to have to worry about Olivia-san being recognized and causing a commotion. The private setting might be for the best.
As I mused about this, I released Olivia-san’s hand to enter the restaurant…… and saw her briefly display a look of deep loneliness. How should I say this…… She really looks like a cute puppy at times like this.
Well, it lasted only a moment before she returned to her usual demeanor. Following the staff’s guidance, we entered the restaurant. But it was at that moment that I noticed something.
The waiter guiding us was visibly tense, but what struck me more was the overwhelming nervousness and resolute determination radiating from Olivia-san.
……What is this feeling? Considering Olivia-san’s personality and her behavior up to now…… Ah, could it be that?
She’s probably thinking something along the lines of “If the food at the restaurant I chose doesn’t suit his taste, it would be an unforgivable failure.”
It felt as though her emotions carried the weight of a samurai ready to commit seppuku in the event of failure…… Before we start eating, let's give them some reassurance first.
<Afterword>
Serious-senpai : [Honestly, it really feels like she's prepared to accept any kind of punishment, no matter what.]
