Chapter 1237  The Truth Behind Greater Beyond (4)

Whoosh!

Before Valyr could even reply to Adam's question, the young man felt as if all of the strength in his body had been siphoned all of a sudden, reminding him of the time he briefly lost connection with the system around the version update. It also reminded him of the time he regressed to the lowest level after Vaughn exchanged his previous main class to what it was today.

However, unlike those times where the loss in strength was temporary, the sensation that enveloped the young man's body this time around felt more permanent. It was as if he innately knew that he had no way to return his strength to where it was before.

Not only that, but he felt as if all of the parts making up his body were shifting into another form, reminding him of the times he swapped appearances with the help of [Thousand Polymorph].

"There we go." By the time the changes were done, Adam looked at Valyr with a faint smile before conjuring a mirror in front of him. "Now, what do you see?"

"That's…" Looking at the mirror in response, Valyr's eyes quickly widened in disbelief once he took note of the appearance he currently had.

At the moment Adam snapped his fingers, the young man already had an idea that he'd change into the player avatar his past self used. After all, when compared to his current level of strength, his past self was still at the early levels of Rank 0.

However, when the person that greeted him through the mirror was not a man with light gray hair and gold eyes, but instead a man with dark hair and hazel eyes, it was only then did he understand…

That when the two of them told him that they fused everything…

They meant it literally.

"That's… me…?" Continuing to stare at the mirror in front of him, Valyr went ahead and did a few basic movements with his body, only to find out that the man on the mirror did the same actions as him.

Wanting to be incredibly sure that he'd taken on the appearance he was looking at, the young man continued to do a few more actions for a couple more minutes, only stopping once he began to feel a bit of exhaustion set in.

"That's… me," uttered Valyr with certainty in his voice, not expecting that there would ever come a day where he'd be in his actual body after everything he went through. "Well, this is me from before Greater Beyond started, but…"

"That's definitely me."

Looking at his current appearance once more, the young man was reminded of the hardships and journeys he went through in his past life.

The connections he made, the relationships he formed, the friendships he broke, all of that flashed in his mind at that moment as he thought about all of the time and effort he spent to get to where he was.

By the time his train of thought reached the point where their side lost the final battle, Valyr had a feeling… that he instinctively knew the reason why Adam and Eve decided to fuse him and his past self together.

"So… I suppose you have your answer already?" Seeing that Valyr had finally adjusted to his current appearance, it was only then did Adam ask him a question. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Does it have something to do with what I went through before?" asked the young man in response, to which Adam and Eve looked at each other for a bit before nodding back at him.

"If that's the case…" Seeing the two nod at his words, the young man nodded back as he began to smile. "Then I exactly know why you did this."

"However, that brings up a lot more questions in my head," said Valyr after that, firing them off one by one to the two before they could even react.

Fortunately, all of the questions he asked were more or less what Adam and Eve expected to hear from the young man, allowing them to tell him what he wanted to know with relative ease.

From the benefits a body that could exist in both universes had, to the possible problem he might face with his past self's player avatar, the two did not hold back while answering those questions. In fact, they even went so far as to show him a couple of examples in the process.

However, amongst all of the questions Valyr threw at the two, there was one that made both Adam and Eve remain silent.

"I know you two have been accommodating to me all this time, but… since you two seem to know what I went through before, why did you still fuse the two of us together?"

"Wouldn't it be better for your side if I died instead?"

Through the questions he'd been asking all this time, Valyr eventually came to know the reason why he appeared in this large white room when he woke up, which involved him and his past self breaking the laws of time paradox.

Although the entire explanation around it was quite convoluted since it involved the existence of multiple universes and time lines and what not, the young man still more or less got the gist of it.

Which was why he found their decision to fuse the two of them together more odd.

"Well…" Scratching the back of her head as she thought about the best way to go about answering his question, Eve decided to keep their answer under wraps for just a bit more. "Let's just say that it's better for you to ask that question once you're stronger."

"We're doing this for your sake," said Adam, to which Eve nodded in agreement. "This might just cause you even more confusion for the meantime, but believe us when we say that you'll understand once the time comes."

"Of course, that doesn't mean we won't leave you fully hanging," said Eve as she looked at Adam for a bit.

Receiving a nod from the man in response, it was only then did she continue. "This is a very vague answer, but… let's just say we're on your side."

"You're on my side…" muttered Valyr to himself before eventually nodding in understanding.

"Got it."

"I'm glad you understand," replied Eve with a smile. "Well, since we've pretty much told you everything you need to know for the meantime, I suppose it's time to send you back."

"To Veldanyr? Or Earth?" asked Valyr, his appearance still that of his actual self on Earth.

"Earth," said Adam as he proceeded to conjure a magic circle around Valyr. "Just to remind you once again, you appearing here in your body from Earth will only happen this time because of the circumstances."

"Once you enter Greater Beyond again through the machine, you'll be taking on the form of your player avatar."

"And if I want to change back to Valyr Zeihardt?" asked Valyr with a raised eyebrow.

"You'll only be able to do so while in Greater Beyond," replied Adam as he reassured him. "Don't worry, we'll give you a couple of skills once you return to make sure you could swap between the two."

"Any more questions? I don't think I can keep you here for any longer."

"Will I be able to contact you two in the future?" asked the young man, which instantly made the two look at him with smiles on their faces.

"If time and fate permits," said Eve in response. "Farewell for now, Valyr."

"We'll surely see each other again."

"For now… make sure to become as strong as you possibly can."

Whoosh!
