Chapter 25: Tong Wenjie Wants to Rent a House?!
“Hurry up, Mom, or we’ll be late!” Fang Yifan exclaimed, pulling Lin Leier out of the car as they dashed toward the school.
Watching her sons’ retreating figures, Tong Wenjie felt torn. Moving houses wasn’t a decision she could make alone—she needed to discuss it with her husband, Fang Yuan.
Just then, her phone rang.
“Song Qian, what’s up?” she asked after answering.
“Wenjing, I just called Teacher Li. The simulated exam results are out—your Leier scored exceptionally well: second in the entire school.”
Hearing this, Tong Wenjie’s mood instantly brightened.
“Really? That’s fantastic!” she exclaimed.
Since Fang Yifan’s school performance had always been poor, learning that Lin Leier achieved second place thrilled her.
“What about Yifan’s results? Have you checked?” she asked.
“I was about to tell you. Yifan’s grades… well, they’re not great. He came in last in the entire grade. At this rate, he won’t even qualify for university. You need to take this seriously,” Song Qian said with a concerned tone.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“Last place?!” Tong Wenjie was incredulous.
“Yes, I double-checked. If you don’t believe me, you can confirm with him later tonight,” Song Qian added.
Song Qian herself wasn’t in the best mood either, having just learned that her daughter, Qiao Yingzi, only placed third—her lowest ranking yet. While it was an improvement compared to others, the drop from first to third rank left Song Qian feeling disheartened.
“I’m coming over. We need to talk,” Tong Wenjie said decisively.
“Alright, I’ll be home,” Song Qian replied.

Meanwhile, at school, Huang Zitao eagerly approached Su Bai and Qiao Yingzi.
“Su Bai, Yingzi, the results for the simulated exam are out!”
Seeing a crowd gathered near the announcement board, the trio quickly joined the throng to check their scores.
“Geng Geng, how did you do?” Su Bai asked upon spotting her among the crowd.
“I made it into the top 30,” she replied, pointing to her name at 25th place. “Not bad—at least I’ll stay in the advanced class and keep being your deskmate.”
“Su Bai, look! You’re ranked first!” Huang Zitao shouted in excitement.
For her, Su Bai’s success was even more thrilling than if she had achieved it herself. Knowing she couldn’t reach the top, she was overjoyed that Su Bai did.
The surrounding students turned their attention to Su Bai, whispering among themselves.
“He’s not just a top student; he’s ridiculously handsome too.”
“A total dreamboat—smart, rich, and good-looking. What’s not to love?”
“I wonder if I have a shot at being his girlfriend…”
“Get real. Take a look in the mirror. What makes you think you’re worthy?”
Though some girls even argued over Su Bai, he and his friends ignored the commotion, focusing on the score rankings.
Qiao Yingzi had placed third, while Lin Leier secured second.
“Well, Su Bai, enjoy the top spot while you can. I’ll take it back next time, and then you’ll see what I’m capable of,” Qiao Yingzi teased with a half-smile, trying to mask her disappointment.
She dreaded her mother’s inevitable nagging about not maintaining first place.
“What about Fang Yifan’s score? I don’t see it,” Huang Zitao asked.
“You’ll find it at the very bottom,” Wang Yidi quipped. She had placed 30th in the advanced class, which was impressive for an art major.
True to her word, Fang Yifan’s name was indeed last on the list.

In the meantime, at Song Qian’s house, she and Tong Wenjie were deep in conversation.
“I think Fang Yifan’s suggestion makes sense,” Song Qian said. “The daily commute to school wastes a lot of time that could be spent studying or resting. For Year 12 students, every minute counts.”
Tong Wenjie shared her son’s idea with Song Qian, who, as a teacher and parent, offered a thorough analysis.
As close friends, Tong Wenjie trusted Song Qian’s insights.
Though Song Qian owned multiple properties in the Shuxiang Yayuan complex, Tong Wenjie understood that securing a rental there wouldn’t be easy due to high demand.
