Chapter 1258 Sever All Ties With These Two Maniacs
Chapter 1258 Sever All Ties With These Two Maniacs
"The second option… We kill this girl and erase all future problems."
For a moment, Evan's expression froze upon hearing Anastasia's suggestion. However, as he thought deeply about her words, he realized she wasn't making a casual suggestion but instead presenting the only two realistic options available to him.
Even if he chose not to kill Valery, her weak source would eventually lead to her death. On the other hand, if he decided to save her, the only way was to follow Anastasia's first suggestion: kill Winterclaw and help Valery absorb his source.
In the end, whether he wanted it or not, these were his only two choices. Either let Valery die or kill Winterclaw so that she could absorb his source and complete her evolution.
Evan took a deep breath. Before deciding anything, he turned to Anastasia and asked a question that weighed heavily on his mind.
"Suppose we somehow manage to kill Winterclaw and help her absorb his source. But after she absorbs it, if she turns against us… do you have the confidence to kill her?"
This was the main issue with trying to save Valery. Evan vividly remembered the phantom of the Primordial he had seen when he used the second move of the Soul Slayer War Arts in Azragoth World.
Although the phantom had possessed less than 0.1 percent of the real Primordial's power, the sheer power it had shown was still unforgettable to Evan. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
If not for the Halberd of Destruction, which allowed him to control the phantom due to its connection with the Soul Slayer War Arts, even that fragment of power could have seriously injured—or perhaps even killed—him.
If the phantom alone was so dangerous, Evan couldn't even begin to imagine the strength Valery might gain after absorbing Winterclaw's source. That source was, after all, the remaining portion of the Primordial's essence that Azroth had severed using the Halberd of Destruction.
If Anastasia couldn't handle her, he would need to rethink his decision carefully. If Valery became a powerful enemy, she would be even more terrifying than Winterclaw himself.
Evan already had more than enough problems to handle, including Mytheroner, who was currently in Utopia. The last thing he needed was to add yet another overwhelming threat to his list.
However, helping Valery also came with its potential benefits. If she remained an ally after absorbing Winterclaw's source, she could become a formidable ally.
'Not to mention… it would be a pity to let her die just like that,' Evan thought, shaking his head. Deep down, the idea of letting Valery die without at least trying to save her didn't sit well with him.
While he didn't particularly care about the world and often caused chaos wherever he went, the thought of letting someone he knew die without lifting a finger left a sour taste in his mouth.
"Kill her?" Anastasia raised an eyebrow at Evan's question, initially surprised by his words. However, she quickly realized what he was thinking and sneered.
"Of course, I can and it wouldn't even take much effort. I could pinch her to death even after she absorbs Winterclaw's source. No matter what happens, she is merely a fragment of the Primordial's source, not a true Primordial. Even if she inherits some of its powers, it's still just a fraction. Meanwhile, I am a real Progenitor," Anastasia said with a smug smile.
"Do you honestly think someone with just a fragment of the Primordial's source can match me?"
Evan raised an eyebrow at Anastasia's confidence. "Are you sure? Wouldn't she become quite powerful after absorbing Winterclaw's source? I mean, she would at least be as strong as Winterclaw, wouldn't she?"
Anastasia rolled her eyes at him and shook her head.
"Do you think it's that easy to reach the level of a Rank Six Core Evolver? Even if she absorbs Winterclaw's source, it would take considerable time for her to refine it fully and reach his level."
"So, you are saying she won't be very powerful right after absorbing the source, right?" Evan asked.
"Exactly. At most, she might reach the peak of Rank Four or the beginner level of Rank Five—if she perfectly inherits all of Winterclaw's powers and understanding of the laws. If she doesn't, she might not even reach Rank Four," Anastasia clarified.
"I see…" Evan murmured, falling into deep thought. After contemplating for a while, he raised his head and looked at Anastasia again.
"So, it won't be too dangerous for us to let her absorb Winterclaw's source, as we could still kill her if she turns against us after absorbing it," He said.
Anastasia's lips twitched at his remark and she felt his understanding of the word dangerous seemed alarmingly casual.
'You want to kill a Monarch and call it NOT TOO DANGEROUS,' She thought, rolling her eyes. Still, after a brief pause, she nodded because as long as they planned carefully, there wouldn't be any life-threatening risks.
Seeing Anastasia nod, Evan sighed in relief and made up his mind.
"Since there won't be any immediate danger after she absorbs Winterclaw's source, then let's do it. We will kill a Monarch."
Ashley, who had been silently observing the conversation, felt her mind go numb. She stared at Evan and Anastasia with a dry, incredulous look, already imagining ways to sever ties with the two lunatics.
'Their thoughts are growing more and more dangerous by the day,' She thought, swallowing nervously.
Anastasia gazed at Evan intently after hearing his decision and asked in a serious tone, "Are you sure? You know it won't be easy. Not only will killing Winterclaw be difficult, but there is also the risk that this girl might initially appear as our ally after absorbing his source, only to stab us in the back once her strength grows."
"I know the risks involved in helping her absorb Winterclaw's source," Evan replied calmly. "But I already have a way to keep her in check, as long as her strength doesn't immediately surpass Winterclaw's level after absorbing it."
Evan smirked and looked at Anastasia. "You are not afraid of causing trouble for Winterclaw, are you?"
"Afraid?" Anastasia blinked in surprise before bursting into laughter. "There is nothing I am afraid of. If you want, we can head out right now to launch an attack on that guy."
Ashley, standing silently to the side, took a cautious step back. A fleeting thought crossed her mind: sever all ties with these two maniacs and relocate the closed world of the Dryads so they would never be able to find her again.
'The storm they are about to unleash will surely surpass the chaos they caused when conspiring to kill Anderson or igniting the war between the Dragon Islands and the Gehenna Empire,' She thought with a heavy sigh.
