Neurolink System in the Modern World

My vision shifted, and I found myself in another memory.

But this time, I was in a messy place with broken stuff all over, and there were too many dead bodies to count. I also noticed that things were floating around because there was almost no gravity.

"Dr. Zen," a woman spoke with a weak voice.

She was also floating in the air, her combat suit covered in blood, and was clearly in critical condition. Judging from the damage she took, there was no way she would live much longer. Not unless she has some kind of ability to regenerate her internal organs.

'So, it's the continuation of that memory in Seoul,' I muttered to myself.

The critically wounded woman was the same purpled hair alien I saw last time.

It wasn't really surprising since Dr. Han mentioned that the memories are extracted from one single central brain, and the brains in other branches are just there to divide the load.

That last memory ended when they were trying to activate Code X, but something must had attacked their ship before they could complete the whole process.

"Are you okay?" Dr. Zen asked as he hurriedly tried to swim towards her, but he realized he was also wounded.

"I'm hurt too," Zen groaned after the adrenaline in his body wore off. He touched his abdomen and saw a sharp metal pierce it. He couldn't take it off because he would bleed to death. Fortunately, the metal did not hit any important organs, so his condition was not as dangerous as the purple-haired woman.

If these were normal times, he could just use their medical technology to heal himself. I'm pretty sure that highly advanced aliens like themselves have the means to regenerate an organ or two.

"D—Dr Zen , I still have….this…, take it so you can heal yourself." The purple haired alien spoke with a pained expression.

I must admit she was really loyal, still thinking about him even as she faced imminent death. In a way, this alien woman showed more loyalty than almost 99% of humans who tend to prioritize themselves.

"You are in a more critical condition, take it " Dr. Zen replied while groaning.

"I—can't." She coughed, blood speckling her mouth. "Internal organs pierced. Even if I take it, won't make it." She added and used her remaining strength to throw the vial. It floated towards Zen thanks to the zero gravity , it was a metallic tube with green liquid inside it.

"You... have to make it, Dr. Zen." She mumbled before the light in her eyes finally went out.

Seeing her take her last breath, Zen hesitated before grabbing the vial. Quickly, he injected its contents into his chest. The liquid ran through his veins, creating a green light that traced on his skin.

Gritting his teeth, he carefully pulled out the sharp metal from his abdomen.

*SPURT!

"AGHHHHHHH" He screamed in pain.

Blood began to flow from his wounds, but at the same time, a green glow emanated from hole , and it started closing.

After the vial completely took effect, Zen's breathing became more stable. It was really helpful in healing his wounds .

"Code X," he muttered, recalling the most important research of their race. He started looking around to find it, until his eyes landed on two large glass capsule — the same male and female bodies sealed inside. There were cracks on the glass, and it was barely holding up.

"I need to complete the process!" He gritted his teeth and began grabbing floating objects to gain some momentum until he reach the glass apparatus .

But just as his fingertips grazed it, the space around him stabilized.

The floating objects plummeted down, including him. He crashed onto the ground, chest flat against the surface.

Desperation fueled his moves as he dodged the falling objects, narrowly avoiding each potential collision.

THUD!

THUD!

THUD!

"That was close" He slowly stood up and sighed after making sure that it was safe.

However, his time for a well needed break was short-lived.

A feeling of unease hit him. His attention was caught by a glowing light near the door.

"No—no," he instinctively backed away.

His worst fear appeared—a humanoid figure made of pure blue energy. Its eyes glowed white, and its veins pulsed like lightning.

Seeing the threatening figure, panic surged through him, so he quickly turned around and opened the capsule.

The result was uncertain, but he had no choice. Waking up Code X was his only hope to fix the dire situation.

CLICK!

The capsule opened up, and the liquid material burst out, knocking Zen aside.

Zen's action also caught the attention of the humanoid, and it raised its hand to prevent the liquid substance from touching its body.

"What is this thing?" The humanoid spoke in the same language.

"How can you talk in our language?" Zen asked, his voice trembling from fear.

He had just witnessed this being bend a spaceship with its bare hands, so his anxiety was understandable.

In fact, it would be much weirder if he did not feel afraid in the presence of such a powerful being.

The humanoid turned its head towards Zen, a smile forming on its face. But, it wasn't a smile that conveyed mockery or friendliness. It lacked the proper expression to discern what this being was thinking.

"What is this thing?" The humanoid asked again while walking closer.

"Not good!" Zen exclaimed. "Code X, activate! Enter combat mode!" He shouted a command. It seemed that if the awakening succeeded, they would open their eyes and fight off the invader.

The humanoid made of blue energy heard Zen's words but continued to walk closer, unbothered and complacent of it's own power.

"System Activate," a male voice came out from the now opened apparatus .

"System Activate," another voice echoed, this time it was the voice of a woman.

'Why does this sound so familiar,' I thought to myself,

'Not just the words but also the voice.' I added
