Chapter 56 - 54 Qiao Jing Sings
Chapter 56: Chapter 54 Qiao Jing Sings
“Hm?”
Qiao Jing turned her head, looking at Zhan Qipei with a puzzled face.
“What, I can’t go?” Zhan Qipei asked, narrowing his eyes.
“It’s not that, but we’re going to a KTV, to sing. Are you sure you want to go?”
In Qiao Jing’s mind, Zhan Qipei was the kind of privileged young master who had grown up in high society circles, entirely out of place in a worldly setting like KTV.
That’s why she asked.
“I’m just going to sing,” was Zhan Qipei’s reply.
Qiao Jing lightly raised her eyebrows, remained silent for two seconds, then said, “Suit yourself, but hurry up, we won’t wait for you.”
Not wait for him! If not for him, then who?
Zhan Qipei felt a flicker of irritation, but his movements were swift. After quickly changing his clothes, he rushed out.
He was afraid Qiao Jing really wouldn’t wait for him.
“You’re wearing that outfit?” Qiao Jing looked at Zhan Qipei, dressed in a suit and tie, and wondered what the difference was from what he had just been wearing.
“Is there a problem with this outfit?” Zhan Qipei checked himself in the mirror; his suit fit perfectly, and his tie wasn’t askew.
“What I mean is, we’re going to a casual, entertaining place like KTV. Wearing this outfit makes it look like you’re going for a business meeting, which isn’t suitable.”
Qiao Jing looked toward Zhan Qipei’s room, “Don’t you have other clothes?”
“Yes, Tang Yan bought some, but I’ve never worn them.”
Qiao Jing walked into Zhan Qipei’s room, opened the wardrobe, and sure enough, there were several sets of casual clothes.
“Wear this set. It will be more appropriate, and the whole point of going there is to relax. These clothes will feel less restrictive and more comfortable on you.”
Zhan Qipei looked at the clothes Qiao Jing was holding, a haze blue casual sports outfit.
Truth be told, he didn’t really want to wear it.
“No need to change, this is fine.”
“Suit yourself.” Qiao Jing expressionlessly hung the clothes back in the wardrobe and stopped bothering with the man as she strode outside.
Watching Qiao Jing’s retreating figure, Zhan Qipei’s brow furrowed, and he turned back to look at the wardrobe.
“Wait a moment, I’ll change and come out.”
Qiao Jing paused, turned her head, and then saw Zhan Qipei taking out the haze blue casual outfit she had just selected and started to change.
Seeing this, Qiao Jing gently raised her exquisitely shaped brows, and a few ripples appeared on her calm face.
Three minutes later.
Zhan Qipei came out of the room.
“I’ve changed.”
Qiao Jing looked at Zhan Qipei, and her eyes brightened, her gaze lingering on the man for a few more seconds.
“What? Does it look strange?”
Zhan Qipei looked at himself in the mirror, feeling quite bizarre, almost unrecognizable.
Perhaps he should change back.
Just as Zhan Qipei was thinking this, the girl’s clear voice rang in his ears.
“It looks very nice, it gives you a different feel. It makes you seem more vibrant than before, as if you’ve suddenly become several years younger.”
Qiao Jing’s words were filled with undeniable admiration.
Her words sent ripples through Zhan Qipei’s heart, his eyebrows lifted, and his lips curved slightly.
“Really not bad?”
“Mm!” Qiao Jing sincerely nodded her head, her eyes fixed on him, her expression as if she had discovered a new world.
Qiao Jing’s words and demeanor completely pleased Zhan Qipei, causing the curve at the corners of his mouth to rise even higher.
“Okay, let’s go with this outfit.”
Soon, Qiao Jing and Zhan Qipei arrived at the KTV.
By the time they arrived, Xu Moqian and his group were already there.
“Sister Jing, why did you bring him along too?” Xu Moqian said this with a displeased look towards Zhan Qipei.
It wasn’t just Xu Moqian, but also Zhan Ruiting and Lu Zijin, all of them looking at Zhan Qipei with the eyes of a rival in love.
Zhan Qipei’s dark eyes narrowed as he thought, had these people got their roles confused?
He was the husband of Qiao Jing, yet these people who were eager to put a green hat on him were looking at him like he was the most unnecessary one.
“He wanted to come, so he came.” That was all Qiao Jing said, without any further explanation.
“Sister Jing, sit here with me,” Xu Moqian shuffled over to make space.
Lu Zijiao stood up, “Miss Qiao, please sit here by me.”
Lu Zijiao’s seat was right next to Lu Zijin, and as he spoke, he stealthily glanced at his older brother.
[Big brother, go ahead and pursue her, I’ll help you!]
“Doctor Qiao, you should come over here instead; it’s easiest to select songs from this spot.” Zhan Ruiting looked eagerly at Qiao Jing, recalling how at the last banquet, he just had to look pitifully at her, and she agreed to his request.
This made him conclude that Qiao Jing was someone who could be swayed by soft-heartedness, so he decided from now on to act like a pitiful little puppy.
Indeed, just as Zhan Ruiting guessed, Qiao Jing found it somewhat hard to resist his gaze.
But—
It was because she knew what these men were thinking, so, in the end, she decided to sit next to Zhan Qipei.
Seeing Qiao Jing’s actions, Zhan Qipei felt a sense of superiority. He turned to look at Qiao Jing sitting beside him and whispered in a voice that only the two of them could hear, “It’s obvious how they feel about you, why did you choose to sit next to me?”
“Because you won’t hit on me, it’s safest,” Qiao Jing honestly replied.
This statement, upon reaching Zhan Qipei’s ears, was somewhat frustrating.
“What if I did hit on you?”
Qiao Jing stopped reaching for the popcorn, paused for two seconds, then pinched a piece of popcorn and put it into her mouth, chewing while looking at Zhan Qipei, “You wouldn’t.”
If you were that person, he would!
That was Zhan Qipei’s thought at the moment.
In fact, regarding this matter, Zhan Qipei was only slightly skeptical.
But it was only a suspicion, with no evidence to prove it.
This brought their conversation to an end.
“Sister Jing, we’ve all sung already, and you haven’t yet. I’ve chosen your favorite ‘Yesterday Once More,’ and it’s up next.”
Xu Moqian handed the microphone to Qiao Jing.
Qiao Jing was going to sing!
Everyone was watching her closely.
Including Zhan Qipei.
He had been living with Qiao Jing for nearly a month, but he had never heard her sing before and had no idea what her singing was like.
Qiao Jing took the microphone, did not stand up but just sat there, looking at the big screen in front and waited for the intro to finish.
She began to sing:
“When I was young
I’d listen to the radio
Waiting for my favorite songs
When they played I’d sing along
