Chapter 62 - 58: Qiao Jing's Astonishing Driving Skills

Chapter 62: Chapter 58: Qiao Jing’s Astonishing Driving Skills

Why did she come along too?

Furrowing his brow, Zhan Qipei’s already formidable expression took on a darker shade.

It was bad enough she snuck out in the dead of night, but now she had gone out alone with Xu Moqian.

“I really didn’t expectit—it turns out the one racing against the God of Cars is actually Xu Moqian,” Lu Zijiao said, his face a picture of surprise.

Zhan Qipei was no longer in the mood to care about the race, his deep, oceanic eyes fixating unwaveringly on Qiao Jing.

Li Qi came over to Xu Moqian, looked at Qiao Jing, and asked, “Is she the one you talked about?”

After Xu Moqian lost the last race, he had declared he would find someone even better than him. At that time, Xu Moqian had spoken with such certainty that Li Qi had been very curious—who exactly had Xu Moqian found?

“Yes, it’s her!” Xu Moqian said with unmistakable pride.

Li Qi frowned and reexamined Qiao Jing. To him, Qiao Jing was nothing but an extremely delicate beauty, hardly the image of someone who would race cars.

Of course, appearances can be deceiving. Besides, he didn’t believe Xu Moqian would just find someone randomly to make a joke.

Maybe this girl really had some skills.

But, no matter how skilled she was, it was unlikely she could win against him.

Li Qi walked over to Qiao Jing and extended his hand, “Hello, my name is Li Qi.”

Qiao Jing shook it politely, “Qiao Jing.”

“What are they doing? If it’s just a race, why are they introducing Qiao Jing? Is this a blind date or something?” Lu Zijiao asked in confusion as he looked at Qiao Jing and Li Qi.

They were too far away to hear what they were saying. He just felt it was something between Li Qi and Xu Moqian—why did Qiao Jing get involved?

Zhan Qipei watched through narrowed eyes as Qiao Jing and Li Qi’s hands touched; although it was merely out of courtesy, he felt an inexplicable discomfort.

“It’s starting!” Lu Zijiao yelled, excited after seeing Li Qi get back in his car.

The next second, his brain seemed to stop working because the person sitting in the other car wasn’t Xu Moqian, but Qiao Jing.

“What, what’s going on?”

Zhan Qipei tightened his faintly visible long eyebrows, his gaze dark and unfathomable as he stared at the car Qiao Jing had boarded.

“Oh my! It’s not Xu Moqian! It’s Qiao Jing! The one racing against Li Qi is Qiao Jing, hey, hey, are you kidding me? I can believe Qiao Jing driving a tractor or pedaling a tricycle, but racing? Does she even know how?” Lu Zijiao’s mouth gaped open.

People around had already started placing bets.

“I bet on the God of Cars to win!”

“I bet on the God of Cars too!”

“So do I.”

The bookmaker was unhappy, “If everyone bets on the God of Cars, how am I supposed to set the odds?”

Lu Zijiao shouted at the bookmaker, “I’m also betting on the God of Cars.”

Even though Qiao Jing was his future sister-in-law, knowing she would lose, if he bet on Qiao Jing, that would be throwing money away.

As Lu Zijiao was thinking this, Zhan Qipei’s voice suddenly sounded by his ear.

“I’m betting on Qiao Jing.”

“Huh?” Lu Zijiao was taken aback.

It wasn’t just Lu Zijiao; almost everyone looked at Zhan Qipei with a puzzled expression.

“Cough cough—Young Master Zhan, even though Qiao Jing is your wife in name right now, the outcome of this race is pretty obvious. This doesn’t seem to match your style of doing business,” someone remarked.

Zhan Qipei took out a card, “Bet on her.”

He too knew Qiao Jing couldn’t possibly beat the God of Cars, but no matter what, Qiao Jing was part of the Zhan Family, and he had to show some support.

Lu Zijiao shrugged, “Alright, it’s rare for you to splurge like this. Occasional loss can be quite an experience in life.”

Zhan Qipei glanced at Lu Zijiao but said nothing.

At 12 o’clock sharp, the race officially began!

Qiao Jing took the lead and shot out ahead.

Li Qi deliberately lagged half a second, following behind Qiao Jing.

He loved overtaking, which was why he was not just known as the God of Cars but also as the Overtaking King.

“Go Sister Jing!” Xu Moqian shouted, clenching his fist.

Zhan Qipei’s gaze closely followed Qiao Jing’s car, his brow furrowed.

How could she be driving so fast? There was a sharp turn ahead, why hadn’t she slowed down yet?

As the car got closer and closer to the turn, Qiao Jing showed no signs of slowing down, while Li Qi’s car visibly did.

“The God of Cars must be letting her lead. I didn’t expect him to be so gentlemanly,” Lu Zijiao mumbled to himself as he analyzed the cars that were slightly apart. “Strange? Why hasn’t Qiao Jing slowed down yet?”

Zhan Qipei’s brow knitted into a “川” and his jaw set with tension as he watched,

“Dammit! She’s still not slowing down—could there be something wrong with the car?”
