Re: Apocalypse Game

Chapter 225 Final Minutes

225  Final Minutes

As the command echoed through the battlefield, the Abyss Knight's health finally dwindled to 5%. This should have triggered the Necromancer to cast a healing spell for its general. However, at the same moment, a relentless bombardment from the ranged attackers brought down the Necromancer's health below 50%, compelling the Lich King to use the healing spell for itself instead. With no undead soldiers around to siphon from, it didn't have enough spirit points to heal both of them.

"All attack the knight!!" Alan shouted.

Understanding Alan's plan, players unleashed their strongest attacks, focusing on the Abyss Knight. Excitement surged through the ranks as they executed powerful strikes and spells. Cammie, the blue blaster, continuously fired energy blasts despite her cannon showing an overheating status. Merle and his rednecks, along with Cachellos and his mercenaries, showered the Abyss Knight with a relentless rain of bullets.

Most bullets dealt less than 5 damage to the high-defense Abyss knight. However, Rose, with her keen perception, managed to land multiple critical strikes, aiming directly at the head.

[Shooting: Lethal Attack. Inflicts 9 damage]

With more than two dozen players aiming at the giant undead, the cumulative damage reached about 50 to 100 HP per second.

"Keep shooting!!" Alan commanded, his voice cutting through the chaos, urging the players to maintain their relentless assault on the now-vulnerable Abyss Knight. The barrage of gunfire continued, creating a symphony of destruction aimed at bringing down the formidable foe.

The Abyss Knight desperately tried to swing its massive shield to block most of the bullets and wielded its swords in an attempt to force the players to retreat. Despite its efforts, within a minute without healing, its health dropped below 2%.

Planning to secure some reward from the undead giant, Alan decided to join the fight in the last seconds. Using his [Lunge Strike] followed by [Blade Frenzy] to its back, Alan landed multiple critical strikes and dealt the decisive blow to the boss-level undead.

[Stabbing: Inflicts 15 damage]

[Critical hit inflicted from sneak attack, 8 damage, target died]

[You have successfully killed Artorius, the Abyss Knight]

[You have received 4000 XP and 2000 Survival points]

[You received E-rank reward x1]

[10 minutes left to survive]

"We can win this!!!" Alan shouted.

At that critical moment, Marcus' health hung precariously low, and he had already exhausted his [Wolf Regeneration] skill. Amon the two-times veterans also found himself at the bottom of his stamina. With no one else able to take the brunt of the onslaught, Alan stepped into the tanking role. His three-hour cooldown was up, and he swiftly activated his [Vampire Transformation].

With a burst of enhanced speed and a flurry of fierce combo strikes, Alan deftly diverted the necromancer's attention. His strikes landed with precision, forcing the skeletal horse to turn wild. In the chaos, the undead creature managed to unleash a powerful kick, striking Alan with formidable force.

[Impact: received 112 damage]

The blow proved to be a terrifying one, hurling Alan to the ground. However, showing remarkable agility, when the Necromancer's sword poised for a second attack, Alan swiftly executed his [Shadow Strike], instantly evading to the necromancer's back, setting the stage for a calculated sneak attack.

With only seven minutes remaining and the Lich King's health at 36%, Zencher decided to take charge, leading his small team of death knights into the area to join the attack.

"You are not taking all the contribution yourself, teacher!!' he said

However, this move left a gap in their parameter defenses, allowing a few skeletons and a revenant to slip through into the area.

"Zencher!! Why are you so stupid?!!" Alan exclaimed.

Swiftly reacting, Axel used his necromancer skills to fill the breach, but the damage was done. The Lich King took advantage of the opening, gaining another 10% health by siphoning the life force of its own undead soldiers.

[Lich King - HP 43%]

[5 minutes left to survived]

"We are not gonna make it, are we!!" shouted Vicky in desperation.

Alan, however, could not afford to give up at this crucial moment.

"No! not yet! don't give up now!!"

He decided to utilize the one item he had obtained from the Epic chest dropped by Merlin.

[Holy Water]

[Type: Other]

[Drink: within 3 minutes; Recover 200 HP, Spirit +3, light-based spell damage +100%]

[Throw: Holy damage 1000 within one minute, two times effects on undead]

[Able to Bring Outside the Game: No]

Alan initially planned to keep it, but considering the critical situation, he decisively threw the rare potion at the necromancer. As the bottle of holy water splashed on its skeletal form, the necromancer roared in pain.

With 2000 damage, it would take 10% of the necromancer's HP in a minute. However, the high damage led the necromancer to shift its attention toward Alan. The dark, bony figure advanced menacingly, its empty eye sockets fixed on Alan as it prepared to retaliate.

Even with his extreme speed, Alan found it difficult to dodge all the necromancer's attacks that rained down as multiple explosive spells from atop its fast horse. His weakness to fire made these spells especially potent. Alan couldn't retreat too far, as it would lead the necromancer out of the perimeter. In the end, Alan had no choice but to turn back and face the approaching undead sorcerer.

[Fire Impact: received 152 damage]

For every few strikes Alan landed, he received a powerful counter from the necromancer. His [Medical Gauze] and healing spells couldn't keep up with the relentless assault on his health.

[Lich King - HP 8%]

The taunt gave Alan an idea, he decisively ran toward the Frenchman. Utilizing [Shadow Strike], he leaped behind the death knight and used his [Drain Life] on him. The necromancer, in hot pursuit, cast a potent fire spell. Using Zencher as a makeshift shield and drawing some health from him,, Alan managed to survive the fiery onslaught. Emerging from the dissipating smoke, he executed a precision strike with his [Ringwraith Sword].

Alan was in a critical state, caught in a dilemma where running risked the quest failure, but another hit could prove fatal.

"Hahaha, just sacrifice yourself, teacher! We will finish the battle for you!" mocked Zencher from the sideline.

With less than a minute on the clock, the necromancer cunningly opted to flee. Alan, undeterred, pursued relentlessly, employing every skill in his arsenal. Despite his best efforts, the necromancer remained just out of reach. In a last-second decision, Alan grasped his [Sawed-off Shotgun], and fired.

"Taste my Boomstick!"
