Chapter 684 Diplomatic Breakfast
When the Royals entered the dining hall, the dignitaries of Brenalia were patiently waiting for them. They bowed down to the Princes and Princesses and gave them all a warm welcome.
All of them were already aware that among the Princes and Princesses, there was also a demon who had red eyes. However, they were a little confused when they saw no one else with red eyes except their own Crown Prince.
Damien wasn't on a roller coaster of emotion today unlike he was yesterday. And he wasn't angry like he was in the morning. So his eye color had reverted back to his normal winter grey color.
And yet, some of the dignitaries were able to accurately guess who the demon was because of how Damien was carrying himself. His was exuding an intense aura and was giving off a dominant vibe. Also, he was dressed differently than everyone else.
One of the ministers looked at him and thought to himself, "He must be the noble demon if that's a thing there in Hell."
Unlike yesterday, Kenneth didn't forget to introduce the Princes and Princesses to the ministers and vice-versa. There were five ministers in total in Brenalia who looked after the Kingdom's affairs.
They all sat down together and had their breakfast.
Just as Kenneth had pre-informed the Princes and Princesses, the ministers put for the agendas on how Wyverndale and Brenalia could further strengthen their relationship.
"Your Highness," the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Xavier, put forth a request to Ariel, "If Queen Adeline would assist us to get the permission from Aberdeen to set up our storehouse in the Paradise Edge then it would be easier for us. We could store the goods without worrying about them being rotten due to extreme weather and transport them when our ships are ready to sail."
Ariel gave a nod and replied, "I will relay your concern to Her Majesty. I will ask her to send a messenger here as soon as she decides on what she will do."
Since Ariel was the sole heir of Adeline and Theodore, the ministers were automatically giving more importance to her and were directing their concerns and requests to her.
While Ariel was busy talking with the ministers, the others were focused more on eating.
Ramon was happily drinking a warm cup of tea. Zach was munching on some buttered toast. Niylah was enjoying a sunny-side-up egg.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Kenneth and Damien were eating and, side-by-side were also listening to Ariel and the ministers.
Ramon glanced at Damien, who was sitting in front of him, and asked, "Damien, do you like the food? Or have you grown out of your habit of eating the food from Earth and don't really like it now?"
Almost all of those present in the dining hall looked at Damien.
Damien gave a nod and replied, "How can I not like this delicious food?" He pointed to the toast on his plate and further said, "I missed eating these, and everything else."
One of the curious ministers glanced at Damien and dared to ask a question even though he was a little intimidated, "If you don't mind me asking, you don't need to eat to survive?"
Damien turned his gaze towards that minister and answered, "Oh, I do eat. But not the typical human food."
The minister gave a nervous smile and gave the nod. He was still curious as to what Damien's typical food was. However, he was afraid that he wouldn't like the answer.
Zach was looking at the minister and he could see the discomfort. He didn't want them to misunderstand Damien or be scared of him. So he cheerfully said on Damien's behalf, "Our Damien absorbs energy from the air. We humans can't see such energies but he can. Isn't it amazing?"
The ministers finally smiled and agreed with Zach.
Damien, on the other hand, didn't mind Zach giving his own interpretation regarding the aurae.
The breakfast ended up being better than yesterday's dinner. Amidst the serious talks about the Kingdoms, there were also light and interesting talks.
After breakfast, the ministers bowed and left the room first.
And Kenneth, informed his guests, "Alright, everyone. Now that the boring part is over, why don't we all ride the horses and travel to the nearby town? We can roam around the town for a while and then go for a race in the forest."
Everyone was instantly ready for some adventure.
Kenneth ordered his servants to prepare the horses. And then he took everyone outside the keep.
"Whoa!" Ramon's eyes and mouth were wide open when he saw the castle enveloped with thick white fog. "And I wondered why I was feeling so cold."
Ariel also looked around with an awe-struck look on her face. The castle looked even more majestic now that it was somewhat brighter outside. The surrounding of the castle paired with the fog and cool weather was very refreshing to see.
"We definitely should have brought some warmer clothes," Niylah rubbed her shoulders and mumbled in a soft voice.
Kenneth looked at his guests and reassured them, "The fog will clear after a while. The weather isn't like this in the day."
Zach was also feeling the breeze now. So he sniffled and said to Kenneth, "Man, you're a half-vampire. So I am pretty sure that you are resistant to cold."
Kenneth guiltily smiled and said, "Ah! That actually makes sense. But I never really noticed my servants and guards wearing warmer clothes during this time of the year. So I didn't think that the cold would affect you all this much."
Damien looked around at the servants and chastised Kenneth, "Did you really not notice the servants and guards wearing double layers of clothing, or were you too self-absorbed to notice them at all? Look… they are wearing another cloth inside their vest."
Kenneth looked at the guards properly and found Damien's words to be true. He couldn't say a word back to Damien since he was at fault this time. So he asked Ariel and the others, "I'm extremely sorry for my carelessness. Can I arrange some warmer clothes for all of you?"
Ariel didn't want Kenneth to feel humiliated for a small error. So she looked at him and tried to calm him down, "It's alright. We are heading towards the town anyway. We can buy some clothes while we are there. Till then, I will keep all of us warm."
Ariel immediately created thin air walls around the twins and Zach's bodies. She was preventing the cold air from coming into direct contact with them.
Their body postures instantly became upright and they weren't feeling cold anymore.
Zach jumped around, trying to get covered by the small water droplets from the fog. However, he wasn't being affected at all. "Ah! Much better," he smiled to himself.
Ramon and Niylah also looked warmer and happy. They thanked Ariel for taking care of them.
The stablemen were arranging 16 strong and fast horses for the guests as well as their Crown Prince and the guards. Kenneth went to the stable to oversee the preparation so that no mistakes would happen from his side again.
And while waiting for Kenneth and the horses, Ariel pulled Damien aside.
She looked into his eyes and asked in a gentle voice, "Damien, will you try to get along with Kenneth? I don't want you trying to fight him or trying to look down at him every chance you get."
