Chapter 121: Chapter 121: An Android and an Awkward Argument
[3rd POV]
And like Gwen had thought, it didn't take long for Weiss to begin, as they looked over the crime scene that was supposedly the doing of the White Fang, a terrorist faunus group that was originally a peaceful organization dedicated to bringing about changes for their people, peacefully in the form of protests and similar actions. But, it was perverted due to the leaders who took it over, making it a shell of what it used to be, what it could be.
"What happened here?" Ruby asked a nearby officer who had been looking over the damages, and the little evidence they had in regards to what had happened in the area.
"Robbery. Second dust shop hit this week. This place is turning into a damn jungle" The man replied before walking off, leaving the group behind as they thought about wat he said.
"That's terrible" Yang muttered as they looked at the crime scene, before some nearby detectives started to talk, and not very quietly.
"They left all the money again" "Yeah it just doesn't make a lick of sense. Who needs that much dust" "I don't know, an army?" "You thinking the uh...White Fang?" "Yeah I'm thinking we don't get paid enough for this shit"
"Hmph, the White Fang what an awful bunch of degenerates" Weiss said, pointing her nose up in a rather...bitchy way. Gwen sighed on the side, knowing this was going to end with Weiss sounding very racist, and Blake running off.
"What's your problem?" Blake asked as she looked at Weiss who turned to her with an eye roll.
"My problem? I simply don't care for the criminally insane" Weiss replied with an eye roll.
"The White Fang are hardly psychopaths. They're a collection of misguided faunus" Blake replied as she crossed her arms. She had been a member of this group at one point, and couldn't help but defend it.
"Misguided? They want to wipe humanity off the face of the planet" Weiss replied with a deadpan, as Gwen had to admit that they were more than misguided.
"So they're very misguided. Either way, it doesn't explain why they would rob a dust shop in the middle of downtown Vale" Blake replied, pointing something out.
"I'd bet it was Torchwick instead" Gwen said on the side, causing them to turn to her.
"Really? You think he did this? Isn't he usually more...secretive in his heists?" Yang asked with an eyebrow raised, as Torchwick usually wouldn't do something so publicly and wouldn't bring so much heat on himself.
"Yeah usually, but I'm assuming he's working with an outside group for this one, one that is paying a lot and needs dust, and who better than Torchwick?" Gwen replied with a shrug, as it was the truth.
"And what, you think it was the White Fang?" Blake asked with a scoff.
"A part of it, yes. I might be a faunus, Blake, but even I can understand that that group is not going about things the right way, and are definitely not good people, not usually at least. It was at one point when a man named Ghira was running the show, but now anymore" Gwen replied. Blake's eyes widened slightly at the mention of Ghira, as that man was her father, and the creator of the original White Fang.
"And how does that mean it's them?" Blake asked with narrowed eyes.
"Not saying it is, I'm just saying it's not out of the realm of possibilities"
"Well, that doesn't change the fact that the White Fang are a bunch of scum! Those faunus only know how to lie, cheat, and steal!" Weiss said, as Yang and Ruby's eyes widened, mostly because Gwen was standing right there when she just said this.
Blake scowled at the comment, and Gwen just looked at Weiss with an unimpressed eye roll, ignoring the girl and her racist comment.
"Hey, stop that faunus!" A yell sounded out as the team turned around, a faunus far off was running across a large ship, as guards chased him. Running to the side of the dock, the group watched as the money faunus jumped off the boat and began racing down the wooden docks.
The faunus soon made his way up the stairs and ran passed them, giving Blake and Gwen a wink as he did so, which both of them ignored.
"Well Weiss, you wanted to see the competition. And there it goes" Yang said with a smirk as the teen ran off.
"Quick! We have to observe him!" Weiss said as she ran off after the faunus, followed soon after by the rest of the group, albeit reluctantly in the cases of Blake and Gwen.
The group ran through the streets of Vale, around it's many corners and streets, before eventually...Weiss bumped into a girl. A redhead girl that Gwen smiled at the sight of, one of her favorite characters in RWBY, and a character she would both be saving, and potentially even becoming friends with. The android with a soul, Penny Polendina.
"Salutations!" The teen said from the ground as Weiss got to her feet.
"Um...hello" Ruby said awkwardly.
"Are you...okay?" Yang asked as she watched the teen lay on the ground with a smile.
"I'm wonderful! Thank you for asking" She replied with a smile.
Team RWBY all looked at one another at this, while Gwen was looking to the girl in genuine interest. She was an android, and wasn't a human. But she was...magnificent for a world like this, incredibly advanced, and far beyond any normal android. More than that, she...was developing a soul, or had one. Something that Gwen smiled at, knowing that an object (or android in this case) developing it's own soul was...immensely difficult and unlikely. One of the other non living cases of a soul being developed, was with Jarvis from the MCU.
"Uh, do you want to get up?" Yang asked the strange girl.
"Yes" The girl said with a smile as she jumped to her feet, a smile on her face as she turned to them. As she did this, team RWBY all backed up from her, while Gwen looked at her in interest. "My name is Penny. It is a pleasure to meet you" Penny introduced herself, smiling as she did
so.
"Hi Penny, I'm Ruby"
"I'm Weiss"
"Blake"
"Are you sure you didn't hit your head- oh, I'm Yang" Yang said as her shoulder was bumped
by Blake.
"And I am Gwen, it's nice to meet you, Penny" Gwen said with a smile.
"It's a pleasure to meet you!" Penny said again, as Weiss looked at her, weirded out.
"You already said that" Weiss said as Penny blinked.
"So I did!"
"Well, sorry for running into you"
"It was nice to meet you, friend" Gwen said as she walked after them, smiling as she knew the android would soon follow after them.
Walking away from the shocked android, and once they got far enough away, Yang began.
"She was...weird" Yang commented, still a bit weirded out about their interaction with Penny. "Now, where did that Faunus riff raff run off to?" Weiss asked, ignoring Yang's comment on
Penny.
"What did you call me?" A voice asked, as they all (besides Gwen) jumped at the sound of Penny's voice as she appeared in front of them.
"Oh I'm really sorry, I definitely didn't think you heard me" Yang replied.
"No not you, you" Penny said as she walked to Gwen, who had a small smile on her face.
"I called you a friend" Gwen replied as the girl looked at her in surprise before letting out a
happy laugh.
"Sensational! We can paint our nails! And try on clothes and talk about cute boys or girls!" Penny said with a grin, as Yang, seeing the way Penny was reacting to what Gwen had said,
decided to redirect the conversation.
"So...what are you doing in Vale?"
"I'm here to fight in the tournament!" Penny replied.
"Wait, you're fighting in the tournament?" Weiss asked in surprise, while Gwen began to slowly block out the conversation, and instead focused on the oh so interested android in
front of her.
'She truly is a magnificent work of art, being a sentient being in every way that matters. I doubt it would have been possible without the unique laws of this reality, and the way they interacted with her. Developing a soul isn't easy, afterall' Gwen thought as she gazed at the girl, before tuning back into the conversation as Blake exclaimed.
"You ignorant little brat!" Blake yelled as she marched off, after Weiss made some pretty racist remarks towards faunus, which Gwen mostly just ignored in favor of literally anything else at the moment, mostly the makeup of Penny's soul, and how interestingly unique it truly was. It was unlike any normal soul she had seen, and that was saying a lot.
"How dare you talk to me like that! I am your teammate!" Weiss marched towards her, as
Ruby and Yang watched awkwardly.
"You are a judgemental little girl"
"What in the world makes you say that?" Weiss asked with an eye roll, crossing her arms as
she stood across from the teen.
"The mere fact that you are sure that boy is a part of the terrorist group solely based on his species makes you just as much as a scoundrel as you believe him to be" Blake replied with a
scoff, glaring at the teen.
"So you admit it! The White Fang is just a radical group of terrorists!"
"That's not what I meant and you know it"
"I don't understand why this is causing such a problem!" Weiss exclaimed, throwing her
hands up as the others watched them awkwardly, as even Gwen grew uncomfortable
watching.
"That IS the problem!"
"You realize you're defending an organization that hates humanity, don't you? The faunus of
the White Fang are pure evil"n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"There's no such thing as pure evil! Why do you think they hate humanity so much? It's because of people like Cardin, people like you! That force the white fang to take such drastic
measures!"
"People like me?"
"You're discriminatory and borderline racist!"
"I'm a victim! You want to know why I despise the white fang? Why I don't particularly trust the faunus? Its because they've been war with my family for years. War, as in actual bloodshed. My grandfathers company has had a target painted across it's back for as long as I can remember. And ever since I was a child, I watched family friends disappear, board members executed. An entire train car full of dust stolen. And everyday my father would come home furious, and that made for a very difficult childhood" Weiss replied with a scowl, as Gwen just listened to her before snorting outloud.
'Jesus this girl has no idea what she is saying, does she? Sure her childhood is awful, but she is
really ignorant if she truly thinks she had it that bad' Gwen thought as Yang and Ruby both glanced at her, while Penny was silent, not sure what to do in this awkward situation. "You want to know why I despise the White Fang? It's because they're a bunch of liars, thieves, and Murderers!" Weiss yelled into Blake's face as even Gwen couldn't help but begin to get annoyed with the girl.
"Well maybe we were just tired of getting pushed around!" Blake roared back, only to pale as she realized what she said. Her teammates eyes widened at the "We" as realization slowly hit them and were forced to watch as the newly revealed faunus ran off without them even having
time to chase her.
All the while Gwen watched on the side, not interjecting as she knew this was a huge growing
moment for both Weiss and Blake, but at the same time, she couldn't help but have a thought regarding the situation, a thought she was pretty sure Yang agreed with if her facial expression was any indicator. And that thought was...

That's the end of the chapter!
Basically just canon with some sprinkles of Gwen thrown in. This was this way mainly because
Gwen knew that it was for the best. The girls need the development, and this was a moment
that was very important to the development of Weiss and Blake. Anyways, have a good day!
