Chapter 154 - Coming Back to the Ice Elves Kingdom
It took a few hours, but we managed to get back to the Ice Elves Kingdom.
Things seemed to be pretty crazy as he arrived at the main gate, where the same guards as when we left were posted. However, for some reason, thousands of Ice Elves were currently trying to leave the Kingdom. Some of them shouted all kinds of things, which made Amelia and I frown.
'Did the Royal Adviser do something?' I thought.
After all, I had been gone for more time than I had thought. There was a small chance that he had woken up, and if that was the case, then it would explain many things. However, right as we arrived at the gate, Amelia didn't lose any time.
"What are you all doing!" She shouted with the authority of a queen, her voice echoing for everyone to hear.
Within seconds, all movements between Ice Elves as they all looked over toward Amelia, all of them recognizing her instantly.
"I-Is that the queen?" One of them muttered.
"What are you saying? The queen is dead, you heard the nobles. She made an enemy out of someone who she shouldn't have. She's doomed," another ice elf chimed in.
"No, I'm telling you. The queen is right there. She's back! The queen is back!" The ice elf shouted with excitement.
Amelia had no idea what had happened while she was gone, but something like this was definitely not something that she had expected. She needed to know what had happened as fast as that.
We all started to walk faster toward the gate where all the ice elves were stuck on the other side.
"What happened while I was gone. Why is everyone trying to leave the Kingdom?" She asked right away, clear worry inside her voice.
Gazes from everyone around us landed on Amelia. However, everyone stayed silent, seemingly scared to open their mouth and say something. It was a very strange behavior, and it only made Amelia even more nervous.
"Who the hell said that I was dead!" She screamed.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Amelia was losing her cool right in front of all the Ice Elves. As a queen, such a situation shouldn't happen, and I knew that very well since I could see it on all of the Ice Elves' faces as they slowly looked away.
Seeing her panic and lose her cool, I knew I needed to do something. Most of the former slaves were quiet as they only looked at the conversation from far away.
I turned toward Phoebe. "Stay with them; I'll go help, and Amelia figure this whole thing out."
She nodded quietly as she knew that the situation would be very serious if I had to get involved.
I made my presence known to Amelia as I placed my hand on her back, slowly caressing it. Her eyes dwarfed in my direction as they opened wide when she saw who it was. She smiled discreetly at me before losing it again as she turned back toward the crowd of silent elves.
"It was the Royal Adviser. He told us that you made a mistake and that we would all suffer the consequences! He told us to leave as fast as possible, and when we asked to see you. He said that you had already left the Kingdom with strangers… we didn't know who to trust, especially since you weren't even there anymore. It was just a hard decision… we were just lost. Please don't punish us!" The ice elves suddenly got on their knees as they all noticed the anger in their queen's eyes.
I had to admit that I was quite surprised that they all respected her that much, considering that Amelia had always been this cute little girl around me. I had never seen her as the queen of a kingdom. It was giving her a completely new look that I had never seen before, and this was a nice change of pace for sure.
The look on her face was serious, and this was the very first time that I could see her anger flashing. When she stayed silent for a bit after the ice elf told her that, I knew that I needed to say something.
"Nothing will happen to any of you if you just go back and live as if nothing happened. It's the nobles who will have to answer to your queen. And one thing is sure, there will be a lot of change around here," I declared, not even asking for Amelia's permission.
I knew that she approved. We were now allies, and there was nothing that could make us enemies anymore.
"Who is that random guy?" An elf shouted.
"Is he one of the strangers she left with?"
I glanced at Amelia as they uttered those words, and I could see her literally shaking because of how angry she was at the absurdities her citizens were saying without any problems.
"Random guy…" I heard Amelia slowly mutter, the anger seeping into her voice. "He's not a random guy! He will become your king in the future, so you better respect him just as much as me."
'King? What the hell is she talking about?' My eyes widened as I looked over in her direction, as I could already see her being flustered.
I could clearly understand the underlying meaning of what she had just said, but I wasn't sure how to react. It was definitely news to me, just as much as the elves, who just looked at me with a look of disdain.
"He's your husband? You chose a human as your husband… but you had all the ice elves throwing yourself at you, and you never accepted any of them."
I just sighed as I didn't even bother opening my mouth. I could already see the rumors and misunderstandings happening slowly but surely.
Then, a distinct voice that I recognized very well echoed into my ears. "Oh, look, it is. It seems the traitors are back. Did Zero let you leave unscathed?"
