Chapter 591: Wangduan Mountain!

Chapter 591: Wangduan Mountain!

Early the next morning, the group from the Cangqiong Sect escorted the newly mute eunuch, Nangong Yin, back to Cangqiong Mountain to report their mission's success.

Before leaving, Yue Yunlan gave Ling Feng a deep look. Although she truly wanted to accompany Ling Feng to the legendary Wangduan Mountain, escorting Nangong Yin was a serious matter. So, she set aside her feelings and returned to the sect with her senior brothers.

At the city gate, Ling Feng watched as Yue Yunlan and the others gradually disappeared into the distance. He couldn't help but sigh softly.

"Hey, boy, feeling reluctant to part?" Despicable Donkey raised his eyebrows and chuckled slyly. "Mr. Ling, want some water?"

"Scram!"

Ling Feng's face darkened, feeling the urge to kick the despicable donkey into the air.

"Hahaha!" The despicable donkey laughed heartily. "Kid, that little girl clearly likes you. Even your granddaddy divine donkey can see that. If you had just said a few more words, she would've definitely stayed."

"What right do I have to think about such things now?"

Ling Feng shook his head with a faint smile. Everything Kong had revealed in the Ancient Cave of Time about the fate of the child of the Heavenly Dao weighed on him like a mountain.

Right now, the only thing he could pursue was power!

Unimaginably great power!

"Weird kid!" The despicable donkey shrugged, raised a hoof, and summoned a demonic cloud. "Let's go. I'm tired of hearing your mumbling."

With that, the despicable donkey, holding Little Qiongqi, leaped onto the demonic cloud. Tuoba Cheng also hurriedly jumped on.

Ling Feng rubbed his nose, mumbling to himself, "The imperial tomb on Wangduan Mountain—what kind of place could it be?"

He then leaped onto the demonic cloud. With the despicable donkey's demon emperor-level speed, Wangduan Mountain wasn't far away.

...

As the sun set, the despicable donkey steered the demonic cloud swiftly across a barren desert.

"It's so hot!"

The despicable donkey stuck out his tongue, looking listless as he constantly complained, "What a lousy place! Not even water is anywhere to be found! This is unbearable!"

"The Western Wilderness is like this," Tuoba Cheng quickly explained. "After leaving Duling City, the further west you go, the drier it gets. Almost everything is desert."

"Hmph! If it weren't for you, I'd never come to this cursed place!" The despicable donkey grumbled in displeasure. Little Qiongqi, perched on his shoulder, also drooped its head, feeling weak from the intense heat.

"How much further is Wangduan Mountain?" Ling Feng turned to Tuoba Cheng and asked. "This doesn't look like a place with mountains."

"Master, I never said Wangduan Mountain was an actual mountain, did I? Our Wangduan Mountain is actually a hidden paradise," Tuoba Cheng grinned. "Back then, Great Emperor Tiance used his divine abilities to move an ancient city to the Western Wilderness and locked it in a water vein. That's why Wangduan Mountain is rich in water and is one of the few oases in the Western Wilderness."

"Oh?" Ling Feng raised his eyebrows. "If it's not a mountain, why is it called Wangduan Mountain?"

Tuoba Cheng slowly explained, "The saying goes, 'Heavenly secrets are unpredictable, not to be judged lightly.' The name Wangduan[1] is a warning to our Tiance Clan. Additionally, outside the imperial tomb, on Great Emperor Tiance's tombstone, is the symbol of the Gen Mountain[2] from the Eight Trigrams[3]. That's why our Tiance Clan's secluded place is called Wangduan Mountain."

The despicable donkey couldn't help but burst into laughter. "What if it had been the symbol of Qian Heaven[4] instead? Would you have called it Wangduan Heaven? Or if it were Kun Earth[5], would you have named it Wangduan Earth? Haha, your ancestors were really good at coming up with names!"

Tuoba Cheng frowned slightly while gritting his teeth. "This is a matter of heavenly secrets, long predestined. Wangduan Mountain is Wangduan Mountain."

After a pause, Tuoba Cheng continued, "Because we don't want to be disturbed by the outside world, there is a very powerful spatial array around Wangduan Mountain. If one doesn't understand formations, even if they reach the entrance to Wangduan Mountain, they won't be able to enter.

"For thousands of years, the number of outsiders who have detected our Wangduan Mountain's array and managed to enter can be counted on one hand. Most of them chose to stay in Wangduan Mountain forever, never leaving."

Ling Feng pursed his lips, thinking to himself: Those who didn't want to stay were probably killed by the Tiance Clan. After all, only the dead can keep secrets forever.

"Alright, we're here. After three years... I'm finally back!"

Tuoba Cheng jumped off the demonic cloud, followed by the despicable donkey and Ling Feng. The scorching heat from the sand made the ground almost unbearable to step on.

Ling Feng looked around and saw nothing but an expansive desert. Just as Tuoba Cheng had mentioned, there was indeed a space array here that distorted space-time, making it difficult to detect. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Master, follow me!"

A smile appeared on Tuoba Cheng's face. After being away from home for so many years, he was finally back, having completed his mission.

Under Tuoba Cheng's guidance, Ling Feng could vaguely sense the fluctuations of space-time power. Tuoba Cheng used his blood as a medium, dripping a drop of it and then marking it with a strange imprint. This allowed him to guide the group through the array.

Before long, they passed through the space array and arrived at the entrance to Wangduan Mountain. What greeted their eyes was indeed a towering and grand city.

Wangduan Mountain was not a mountain after all!

"What a large city!" Ling Feng exclaimed in awe.

"The city may be large, but the Tiance Clan's population has dwindled significantly," Tuoba Cheng sighed heavily. "Master, follow me to the east side of the city. I'll take you to see the Grand Elder."

"Mhmm."

Ling Feng nodded. Tuoba Cheng had mentioned earlier that Wangduan Mountain had split into two factions. One, led by the Grand Elder, hoped to find the prophesied one to open the imperial tomb and restore the Tiance Clan's former glory.

The other faction, led by Elder Hei Yu, rejected any outsiders and was even somewhat hostile toward them. They were especially resentful of the so-called prophesied one. How could an outsider have the right to inherit the Tiance Clan's teachings? To them, it was an absurd notion.

Just as Tuoba Cheng had said, despite the grandeur of the city before them, there were hardly any people in sight. There weren't even guards or patrols at the gates.

"Even if both branches of our Tiance Clan combined, we wouldn't number more than three thousand people. In recent years, it's become increasingly rare for the younger generation to awaken the power of Tiance. That's why the Grand Elder is so anxious to find the prophesied one and open the imperial tomb."

Tuoba Cheng's expression dimmed as he clenched his fists. "If this continues, it won't be many generations before the Tiance Clan faces extinction. So, Master, you must help us!"

"Tuoba Cheng, just how much have you been hiding from me?"

Ling Feng shook his head with a bitter smile, feeling as though he had boarded a pirate ship with no way off.

"That's it, Master. Nothing more than that, I swear," Tuoba Cheng chuckled. "You're my master. How could I deceive you? Besides, you didn't ask!"

Ling Feng rolled his eyes, speechless. "Let's not talk about this for now. And stop calling me Master from now on!"

"Once a master, always a father. If I can't call you Master, should I call you Dad instead? Master, please don't joke about such ethical matters!"

Tuoba Cheng was like sticky candy that wouldn't come off, always ready to seize the opportunity.

"..."

Ling Feng's forehead darkened. To have skin this thick is truly a talent.

Just then, a few young men and women emerged from the city. Their clothing was noticeably different from those of people in the outside world. They wore loose robes and had lantern-like objects in their hands, each glowing with a different light.

Those lanterns seemed to be the /league-of-legends/6/6f/Jax_lol.jpg[/ref] of the Tiance Clan.
