Chapter 248 Light Burst
The last piece of the golden coin was in the belly of a large sleeping serpent. It was like this place oozed growth hormones, or perhaps it was the abundant life force energy? Either way, the sizes of creatures in these parts were insane.
There were snakes back on earth that were much larger than humans, this one however, is even larger, I was a little curious about just how it didn't snap the branch it coiled about.
Though the serpent looked menacing, and I had just depleted my energy fighting the gorilla of which it was regenerating as fast as possible due to my <Grand Energy Recovery Necklace>, I was a little apprehensive about this one too. The Emoni Jungle Gorilla had almost swept me off my feet, I was surprised by its performance, and though the chances were low, it could have taken control of the battle, subdue me and perhaps even kill me.
Repeatedly fighting foes like that not only have me increase in power, but increase my chances of dying, and that was practically the last thing I wanted to do at the moment. However, this last piece of gold wasn't going to elude me.
[The Black Constrictor]
<Absolute Appraisal> notified me. The name was very fitting of it. The snake was black, extremely large which implied it had so much strength behind it, I could imagine it choking and squeezing about a crowd of a hundred men in a go.

[End Of Information]
"In hibernation huh? Well, that makes things a lot easier for me."
I raised my hand, and a spurt of flame burst from it, and once it was gone, a fiery red blade with a scaly hilt was in its place.
<Wyvern Blade>
I moved the short sword to my flank, positioning properly, and crouched forward slightly. I took the position of a samurai about to pull his blade.
I lept, crossing meters in a single stride, and under two seconds, I was in front of the serpent, slashing down my sword on its great thick neck. I trusted the sturdiness and the sharpness of the <Wyvern Blade>, and expectedly, my blade went through the head of the Blade Constrictor as if it was butter, causing the cutoff piece to roll on the wet soil, until it stopped by the roof of a tree.
Green blood squirted from the orifice I made, and I had to jump out of the way not to get some on me. The blood stank greatly, and it burned? I could see vapor emanate from the area the blood splashed on.
I remained at my spot for about ten minutes, I didn't want to be caught by surprise, and there was the smell that put me off.
I had severed the head from the body– the head of which was about the size of my torso, and yet, the rest of it was still tightly clasped at the tree branch.
The hovering gold coin's light made things easy for me, as the light was focused on the exact part where the shard was. I crept closer, activating <elevate>, and got in by the side of the corpse.
I sank my blade at the underbelly of the serpent, about halfway from the bottom, and then I sank in my hand.
My face was contorted in disgust as little blood dribbled my way, and oh god, it stank. After a minute of probing, of feeling weird strange textures, I found what I was looking for: the last golden shard.
I yanked it from the serpent's entrails, and slowly descended. Soon as I let the shard go from my fingers, it zoomed to the almost completed one, and joined it, becoming whole.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The coin spun, the light it held growing brighter and brighter, that I had to maintain my distance.
And then it stopped.
[System Notification]
[You have found the Solar Flare artifact]
"That is the solar flare?!" I blurted, totally surprised, but I did get the name behind it. The coin thing had the radiance of the sun was a was a circle which I believe is quite close to a sphere.
I had completed a quest without actually trying.

[Congratulations]
[You have received the new skill, <Light Burst>]
[You have received a new item: <Solar Flare>]
I was elated that I received a new skill and a new item, they would make a fine addition to my list of items and skills.
"I wonder what <Light Burst> does."
I looked up at the snake's corpse, and made it the target of the new skill, whatever it was.
I thrust both of my hands at it, and did the cliche thing of calling out the skill name, <Light Burst>, and just as I did, a large blinding wave of light shot out from my hands, and zoomed right at the corpse, sizzling it.
It had gone so fast, that I only caught the moment it left my hand, and afterwards, it was gone, and the serpent's corpse looked like it was barbecued.
"Oh my…" I smiled, holding out my hands, it was quite the power, and it was close to energy projection which I wanted so badly.
Getting the skill and the artifact motivated me, it made me want to do the others.
I then summoned up the quests in my mind's eye, probing what remained.
"Monkey Killer, and Lord of Flies." I shivered, and cringed saying those words. And it seemed like they wouldn't be as fun as this one was.
However, I was going to achieve them before going on achieving the requirements to pass, for I was an overachiever and I was curious.
