Chapter 836: Chapter 832: Running away from home with my brothers
The collaboration with William Bailes’ company was progressing bit by bit, and Richelle Dunn increasingly realized that the Thompson and Lilliput families might be the long-term enemies of, more accurately speaking, her and Roy Lewis.
Every time she thought the game would end, the Thompsons and Lilliputs would launch a new round of contention.
At around ten o’clock in the evening, Richelle received a message from Benjamin Fred saying that Roy Lewis hadn’t eaten much tonight.
She put down her work, casually tied her hair up, rolled up her sleeves, put on an apron, and walked into the kitchen.
She efficiently made two dishes and cooked a pot of beef and rice.
As soon as Roy Lewis entered the door, he smelled the rich aroma of beef and rice. Having been hungry for most of the day, he couldn’t help but sniff like a greedy child, swallowing saliva twice.
His face showed some delight, and he quickly changed his shoes and followed the aroma to the kitchen.
Richelle’s cooking style was very different from the chef’s at home, and the aroma was clearly her cooking.
Roy Lewis walked quickly to the kitchen door, then relaxed his pace and tiptoed into the kitchen.
Richelle was wearing a black silk nightgown, her hair casually tied up and held by a pen.
Between the black collar and her black hair lay her long, slender neck, which was white and shiny.
Roy Lewis hadn’t even come close when he caught a whiff of the light fragrance that was unique to her.
Although the kitchen was filled with the rich aroma of meat and rice, her scent and fragrance seemed to have a special way of reaching Roy Lewis’s nostrils.
He took a few steps forward, his long arm wrapped around her waist, and buried his face in the crook of her neck, giving her a few gentle kisses.
Richelle’s body tensed, then relaxed once she realized it was him and leaned into his embrace naturally.
Feeling a bit ticklish where he kissed, she unintentionally dodged a few times, pressing her body even closer to his.
“You’re back?”
Roy Lewis took a deep breath of the fragrance in her neck, tightened his hold around her waist, and replied.
“If I don’t come back, I’m afraid you’ll be packing up and running away.”
Richelle chuckled.
“Roy Lewis, I’ve never complained about this. It’s your precious daughters and sons who complain about their Dad.”
Roy Lewis received a voice message from his little princess at around eight in the evening.
“Daddy, today’s homework is supposed to be done with our fathers. If you don’t come back, my brothers and I are going to run away from home!”
The little princess’s words were harsh, but her tone was giggly.
She sent the message using Richelle’s WhatsApp, and Richelle was sitting next to her when she sent it.
As soon as the little girl put down the phone, Richelle asked her with a smile.
“Baby, why are you talking tough to your dad while still smiling?”
Without even thinking, Tifanny replied.
“The tough words represent the stance of my brothers and me, but the smile is because I also feel sorry for Dad. It’s not his choice to come home late, and as his family, we should give him warmth and understanding, right?”
Richelle repeated Tifanny’s exact words to Roy Lewis, who sighed.
“It would be great if Uncle Kennedy woke up tomorrow.”
Kennedy Green’s condition was indeed improving day by day, and the last time Richelle did a brain wave-monitoring test on him, his mental activity was much higher than before.
“Even if he wakes up tomorrow, he won’t be able to go back to work immediately, so you still have to bear with it.”
Roy Lewis sighed again, “I used to admire Uncle Kennedy a lot. Now, I admire him even more.”
Richelle finished plating the cooked dishes, struggled out of his embrace, and carried the pot to the faucet to wash.
“Why do you say that?”
“He knew this job would be thankless and laborious. After finishing one term, he still wanted to continue on to the next. If it were me, given a choice, I would have deserted within a day.”
Richelle turned her head to look at him.
“But you’re doing a great job now, and you didn’t desert!”
Roy Lewis saw that she had cleaned the pot and handed her a paper towel to dry it.
“That’s because I have no other choice. If someone else was more capable of handling this acting job than me, I guarantee I would run away the first chance I got.”
Richelle had always thought that Roy Lewis was arrogant and pretentious.
But the longer they spent together, the more she found out that this man was actually very straightforward.
Of course, his straightforwardness was selective.
In front of outsiders, he was still the reserved and serious Master Lewis that others couldn’t see through.
But in front of her, he was increasingly opening up.
For Richelle, this represented wholehearted love and attachment.
“You go wash your face, I’ll bring the rice and dishes out.”
Roy Lewis kissed her lips and obediently walked out.
By the time he finished washing his face, Richelle had already prepared the soup and rice for him.
Roy Lewis took a sip of the soup first, not saying anything, then couldn’t wait to scoop a big mouthful of rice into his mouth.
The plump grains of rice were soaked in the rich meat juices, fragrant and soft.
“This rice is so delicious!”
Richelle clicked her tongue, “Isn’t the soup good?”
Roy Lewis said, “It’s just average, nothing special.”
The reason he dared to say that was that the soup wasn’t cooked by Richelle, but by the chef at home.
His taste buds could instantly tell the difference.
