Chapter 22 - Magical Artifact! The Fifth Wave!

Chapter 22: Magical Artifact! The Fifth Wave!

Clearly a pill furnace, yet labeled a [Refining Workshop]

Wu Chi felt the urge to complain but wasn’t sure if he should.

Upon further thought, having a refining function wasn’t bad. At least it was far better than a standard forge.

He opened the [Refinement] interface to take a closer look.

It offered two primary functions:

                1. Creating magical artifacts, which required templates and Void Crystals.
                1. Refining equipment into magical artifacts, which also required Void Crystals.

“What a shame. If I had this earlier, my longsword wouldn’t have broken.”

Wu Chi pondered briefly and then took out the [Gauss Sniper Rifle].

This was a tech-based piece of equipment that would be quite awkward to use without the necessary expertise.

Additionally, it lacked a scope, so its accuracy would likely be laughable!

Now,

he could refine it into a magical artifact and see what changes occurred.

Following the instructions, Wu Chi opened the “pill furnace” lid and tossed in the sniper rifle.

Immediately,

a prompt appeared on the furnace:

“[Insert 100 Void Crystals]/[Retrieve]”

“So expensive?”

Wu Chi hesitated for a moment but decided to invest the Void Crystals.

Soon,

flames surged beneath the pill furnace.

The humanoid statue floated into the air, circling the furnace several times.

Roughly thirty minutes later,

the flames extinguished,

and the humanoid statue settled back into place.

Stock -1!

The furnace lid flew open, and a newly transformed, mysterious-looking sniper rifle emerged.

It circled Wu Chi once,

resembling the flying swords of cultivators!

“Has it changed from a lifeless object to a sentient magical artifact?”

Wu Chi felt a hint of surprise. He extended his hand, and the sniper rifle landed in his palm!

“Rare equipment! And its level has risen to 10!”

Wu Chi admired the rifle in his hand, eager to test it.

Unfortunately, today’s monster invasion had already ended, leaving no opportunity to try out the weapon’s power.

As for its level, the strength of a piece of equipment depended on two things: level and quality.

Higher-level equipment naturally tended to be more powerful, but high-level gear often came with specific requirements.

For example, legendary divine artifacts might drain the user’s life force if wielded by someone too weak.

Likewise, mythical treasures would choose their owners, rendering them unusable by those they didn’t recognize.

Even more mundane items, like a high-grade suit of armor, would require a minimum constitution to wear.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

It made sense—imagine trying to don an alloy suit weighing several thousand pounds without sufficient constitution.

Even if you managed to squeeze into it, you’d likely be unable to move!

Fortunately, this was merely a Level 10 magical artifact, and perhaps due to the [Refining Workshop], it had no usage requirements.

“Not bad. I can now attack enemies from within the fence!”

Wu Chi nodded in satisfaction. Opening his mouth, he swallowed the sniper rifle, which transformed into a glowing point of light.

Day Five!

At 6:30 a.m.,

with the wooden walls enclosing the territory, the new defense towers, and the wild boar squad, the territory’s security was well-assured.

Suddenly, explosions erupted outside the gate!

BOOM—!!!

Wu Chi jolted awake.

Turning his head,

he saw Lin Daiyu opening her eyes, a hint of groggy mist lingering in her gaze.

“Gongzi, is it a monster invasion?”

The elegant beauty sat up, sweeping her loose hair over her shoulders. She retrieved a jade hairpin from beside her pillow and secured her hair into place.

Two strands of hair fell gracefully at her ears, the contrast of black and white accentuating her jade-like skin. Her delicate ears carried a touch of charm.

“Probably!”

Wu Chi stretched his neck, opened his mouth, and spat out a glowing point of light.

The light expanded in the wind, transforming into a sniper rifle that landed in his hand!

“Let’s go! It’s the fifth wave today; there’ll definitely be some changes!”

With that, Wu Chi hurriedly got up and stepped outside the cabin.

Since both of them had slept fully clothed, it didn’t take long to prepare.

Lin Daiyu sat on the bed, slipping her pale feet into socks and shoes before following after him.

Outside the Territory, Beyond the Wooden Wall

From all directions, shadows emerged from the fog.

Their stiff, swaying movements resembled a tide of walking corpses.

There were many of them! Wu Chi only took a quick glance to realize that monsters were pouring in from all sides—hundreds of them at the very least!

“The difficulty has definitely increased.”

Wu Chi’s face twitched as he retrieved his [True Sight Lens] and used several appraisal spells.
