Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!

Chapter 319 Evelyn's Anger!

"I feel like something terrible is about to happen…. The whole castle feels unsafe suddenly…" Lila spoke as she scanned the area with her big sharp eyes.

Evelyn turned back to face her tree form; she smiled wryly as her eyes landed on the red veins pulsing on the surface of the roots just above the ground. "You have pretty sharp instincts there. Tell me, why are you still here? You should know this place is not as safe as you thought."

Lila's body froze upon hearing her words; at first, she thought she would be safe in that place where the divine tree of the elves was placed. After all, this was the most secure place in the whole kingdom. But when she arrived here, she realized that this place was the origin of the danger.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"I…" The little girl bit her lips hearing her words and looked at Evelyn's back with a complicated look in her eyes. "Can you tell me what's happening?"

Evelyn turned around to look beyond the little girl with a look that showed she was waiting for someone. Lila turned around, seeing the expression on her face, and watched as a familiar young girl walked into the area.

"Greetings, Divine One." At Evelyn's sight, the priestess rushed forward and kneeled in front of her with her head touching the ground, showing her devotion. But Evelyn's gaze did not change at all; she looked past what the girl was showing on the surface. "King Nhalos has decided to arrange an offering ceremony ahead of schedule."

"Why all of a sudden?" Evelyn asked with a knowing smile on her face. Since the girl had her face lowered, she did not notice that, but Lila was able to see it.

"His Majesty said that as the war continued, he might not get time later, so he wants to do it in an hour, and the elders also agreed." Her remained lowered as she told everything to the woman.

"That's fine." Evelyn looked at the girl with eyes colder than any ice in the world, but she managed to hide the same coldness from her words. "If you don't have anything else, you can leave."

The priestess raised her head, saw the woman smiling, and got up. Bowing once again, she left the place. Before leaving, she glanced at Lila for a moment.

"They cannot wait any more, huh…" Evelyn muttered under her breath. Suddenly the coldness on her face vanished, and a helpless look appeared on her face before she turned to look at a certain spot.

"Why did you do that?" Standing there, the same illusionary figure of the old man looked at her with dissatisfaction. "You asked me to not look here for a day because you were going to tell him all about yourself." Find exclusive stories on empire

Lila's body tensed seeing someone appear out of nowhere in front of her. She thought he was an intruder, but when she saw how he was talking to the world tree with familiarity, she lowered her guard and let them talk.

"What good would that have done?" Evelyn sighed in dejection. "We are a hundred years too late to look for a cure."

"He could have found one if you had just told him what you were supposed to tell him." The old man sighed in sadness.

"You think I don't know what he is capable of?" Evelyn frowned with an annoyed look on her face. "I, who knows how many times he breathes in each minute, cannot tell what he is capable of? *Scoff* There are only a few things he cannot do in this world, and I do not want to burden him with the guilt when he fails to save me."

"Can you blame me for being selfish because I do not want someone I love to watch me die miserably?" A tear escaped her eyes as she gazed into the distance, watching a certain masked mage destroy an army of imps.

"Then what will you do when he dies along with the rest of the beings alive?" The old man narrowed his eyes, looking at Evelyn.

"What do you mean everyone will die?" Before Evelyn could say anything, Lila suddenly snapped. There was a trace of panic in her eyes.

*Sigh~*

"You wanted to know what was going right?" With a sigh, Evelyn looked at her and started to explain. "Since the beginning of times, the elves have worshiped me as their god and guardian. To show their devotion, they would nurture the divine tree with all kinds of high-level natural treasures or elixirs which would speed up its growth."

While talking, she suddenly pointed in the direction of a huge metallic round pot, almost triple the size of a full-grown man. There were two deeply carved handles on each side of this pot.

"Do you see that?" She asked. "That is the pot they fill to the brim with all kinds of nourishing materials before the priestess pours it all at my roots by herself."

Her words did not come as a shock to Lila because she knew that the priestess was not just a simple caretaker but a warrior with the strength of a Tier 5 level.

"Just like every other time, a few years back, the same ceremony took place, and like every other year, that trash Nhalos came to deliver the offerings himself to the priestess." With a wave of her hand, she lifted the pot with one of her wooden branches and brought it closer to them. "But unlike the other times, he brought something else with him too. He said he found the blood of a divine beast.

Something that should be at the level of a transcendent."

Lila's eyes widened at the mention of the name; naturally, she had heard of the word. It was the legendary realm that no one had been able to reach in the last couple of hundred years. The last person to reach that stage was revered as a god among mages.

Although he was not the sole person to reach that level, he was the sole person who was strongest at that level. The proof of that was the great war that killed or injured all the transcendent but him; that mage remained unscathed during the whole thing.

"There was nothing wrong with the appearance or the aura of the blood, so I did not care much about it as I was busy keeping an eye on someone— "

"*Cough* ~Stalking~ *Cough*" Suddenly the old man coughed, interjecting in the conversation.

"Be careful not to choke on your own saliva." Evelyn's cold and chilling eyes gazed at the old man who looked away, admiring the scenery of the garden. "Tch, pathetic geezer."

"Now where was I? Ah! Nothing looked bad with the blood, but then it happened. As time passed by, my ability to look around the world started to dwindle. It was not just that; slowly but surely, I started to feel that my connection with the world was not so good anymore. It was like something was interfering with it."

"Why can't you just heal what happened to you?" Lila asked in confusion. "And what does that have to do with the end of the world?"

"We cannot cure what we cannot find." She shrugged before continuing, "The reason why we said it would be the end of the world is simple—"

*Boom!*

*TRRRUMP! TRRRUMP! TRRRUMP!*

All of sudden loud sounds of gongs banging and trumpets blaring echoed in the open garden, interrupting their talk. At the entrance of the garden, all the elves from the royal family including the elderly and the kids made their way inside.

The whole garden was wide enough to host twice the size of the crowd, so there was no problem with the space. Lila's body tensed sensing the signs of calamity coming closer and closer with each beat.

The one leading it was none other than Nhalos, by his side the priestess walked wearing her ceremonial clothes. Yet Evelyn was looking at none of that, she was looking at all the soldiers he brought along with him.

It was a whole army of soldiers, some accompanying them in broad light while the rest hidden in the shadows. Most of the major forces of the Elven Empire were present in the area.

Seeing the sight, Evelyn bit her lips and clenched her hands in frustration. She tried to divert her mind by looking for the mage but she could no longer find him. She tried to look around the world but her senses became blurry as she started to feel the same symptoms.

"Tch, I want to kill them all now." She muttered under her breath while looking at the elves with killing intent hidden deep in her eyes. She did not know who else was in on this with the king but she could not stand being away from one of the very important people in her life.
