Chapter 62 Runic Symbols

"May I touch it?" Lucian asked Lily.

Despite not knowing what Lucian meant, Lily nodded.

"Lily does not mind, but what does Big Brother Lucian intend to do?"

Instead of explaining, much to Lily's discontent, Lucian covered his finger in Mana before plucking one of the strings.

*Ting*

A harsh musical note resounded in the quiet restaurant.

Instead of giggling at Lucian's demonstration, Lily's mouth widened in wonder as she stared at the green lines now covering the zither string.

"Is that the Universal Language?" Fenwick asked Lucian with confusion evident in his tone and continued, "It looks completely different to what I have once seen."

Lucian pointed at the green lines that zig-zagged around the string, then explained, "These green lines are not the Universal Language, rather they are the Elven Language."

Lucian then looked at Lily and continued, "Whoever created your zither is either an Elf or is proficient in the Elven Language."

Lily frowned.

"Lily is confused. Didn't Big Brother Lucian say that my Soul Ensnaring Zither has been inscribed with Universal Language? Lily doesn't like liars!"

Fenwick was also confused, but he did not voice his opinion and simply waited.

"Although, I said Runic Symbols are also known as Universal Language. That was many… many eons ago. After Mages learned about the existence of the Universal Language, they went into a frenzy and tried to learn it. However, how can the language of the Universe be easy to learn? It is not a simple language, rather it is a language that possesses the power to even destroy planets.

After many failed to learn it, they gave up all hope. However, those who were desperate and wished to learn continued in hopes that one day their perseverance would pay off."

Lily, who was so engrossed, pouted when Lucian stopped.

"Big Brother Lucian, what happened after? Surely, they must have succeeded in learning the Universal Language, right?" She asked hopefully.

Fenwick internally shook his head, knowing what Lucian's answer would be.

And just as he thought, Lucian continued with a shake of his head, "Of course not. How can mere Mages learn a language that solely belongs to the Universe? If a mere Mage could speak in the Universal Language, wouldn't that mean they were equal to the Universe? How could the Universe allow such an anomaly to exist?"

Of course, that was a lie, since Lucian was well versed in the Universal Language and still lived to this day. However, Lily and Fenwick did not need to know that. It was better for them that way; otherwise, if they ever reached the Mana God Realm, their Universal Tribulation would be no different from a death sentence.

"Even after millions of years, Mages, who were desperate to obtain power, continued to try to learn the Universal Language. During their research, they accidentally discovered other languages possessed innate power. After many failed tests, they finally learned how to inscribe other languages.

And with the passage of time, the Universal Language became a myth until it disappeared, with only a few records documenting that it exists. Nowadays, even inscribing the Goblin language onto a sword counts as Runic Symbols." Lucian sighed and shook his head.

"Senior, do you know if a Mage has managed to learn the Universal Language?" Fenwick suddenly asked respectfully. Internally, he was a little suspicious of Lucian. He wondered if he knew the language. He seemed too knowledgeable about it. However, it could also be due to being raised in a different environment.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

After all, with how strong Lucian seemed, he should be ranked quite highly in the Drakonia Continent. And who was to say the Drakonia Continent did not have information about the Universal Language in an ancient document?

Lucian did not react even after hearing the change in address or Fenwick's suspicion. To him, being called senior was nothing new. Heck, he had once even been called daddy by a shameless woman who was millions of years old.

As for Fenwick's suspicion? He could be as suspicious as he wanted, but he would never get the answer out of him.

Unless Fenwick wanted to die.

However, for Lily, it was completely different. She could not believe her uncle had called Lucian, senior. Even though, he looked only slightly older than her.

"Uncle Fen, Big Brother Lucian is not old. Why did you call him senior?"

"Lily, I did not call your Big Brother Lucian, senior because of that. I am merely showing my respect to someone who is very powerful." Fenwick perfectly lied, without a change in his expression. He was like a wily fox, that easily tricked Lily.

"Oh, okay!" Lily nodded and looked at Lucian, waiting for him to continue.

"Big Brother Lucian, when is your story going to finish? Lily is hungry!" She said poutingly, while rubbing her stomach. She was still hungry.

"I'm almost done." After clearing his throat, Lucian continued, while glancing at Fenwick, "To answer your question, yes. There has been one person who has learned the Universal Language in our world. As for what happened to him, I do not know. The records did not mention that part. He might be dead or still alive."

Of course, that was also a lie. Wang Chen was too weak to know information of that caliber.

A moment later, Lucian touched the ramekin with his Mana-covered finger. Suddenly, ancient symbols materialized out of thin air around the ramekin.

"Ouch, my eyes!" Lily squealed and closed her eyes. For some reason, as soon as she gazed at the ancient symbols, her eyes felt a burning sensation. At first, it was barely noticeable, but quickly, it had become too much for her to bear.

A few seconds later, Fenwick also closed his eyes, terrified he would lose his vision if he continued to gaze at the ancient symbols.

'Are those ancient symbols the Universal Language?'

Seeing their reactions, for a fraction of a second, Lucian smiled speechlessly, before his face returned to indifference.
