Chapter 1211: Securing a Flying Mount (2)
Seeing an opportunity—Rex made a steering wheel out of his lightning chains.
But the moment he did that, he was scorched with powerful tongues of flame.
Being one of the dominators of the entire dominion, the mutated eagle was angered when he tried to make it a mount. Engulfed in encroaching flames, it flapped both of its wings, making a mini tornado underneath and dragging Rex upwards.
Under Delta's gaze, Rex was pulled from the ground, barely holding onto the chains.
Rawr!!
In quick reflex—Delta ran to the hill on the side and galloped on its side as if gravity was not restricting her whatsoever. She had her eyes firmly fixed on Rex and the mutated eagle, and when she was ready and near the top, her body exploded with white lightning.
Making a desperate leap from the edge, she tried to reach Rex.
Surprisingly, she managed to reach the chains and clung to them with her teeth.
"Reckless, Delta! You're reckless! It's a damn high fall from here—you would get wrecked, if you fell!" Rex shouted—seeing that Delta was clinging to the chains, below him. All three of them are very high, almost reaching the clouds.
Even then, Delta gazed at him particularly, as if she didn't understand what she did wrong.
Feeling the extra weight, the mutated eagle screeched and burned brighter.
Its entire body was radiating brightly like the sun in the sky.
Swoosh!
Flapping its fiery wings with forceful intent, the mutated eagle rained down flames.
Rex felt the searing heat threatening to scorch his flesh all the way to his bones, and his grip was slipping because of it. Despite his high pain tolerance the combined pain, from both the flames and the gradual penalty made it nearly impossible to hold on.
Under the pressure, his body began to morph as he returned to his Werewolf form.
However, the situation only got better slightly.
Fighting those eels took a lot from me—my muscles were about to snap! How do I hold onto this stubborn bird, and then fight the mutated falcon from earlier? If Devo is conscious—the lightning chains would be able to be more effective in zapping this bird, but he's not!
Even now, this damn bird barely feels anything from my black lightning!
It was a tough spot to be in.
Despite the undeniable fact that the mutated eagle was weaker than the mutated falcon, and he beat the mutated falcon earlier, he was not in full power, right now. Not only about Devo—but his red force was also weakened severely.
It was under constant fight with the dominion's energy, so it was not as potent.
Rex could see that his red force energy was thinner than normal.
Not to mention, fighting in the air was not his element.
First wrestling in water and now I'm wrestling in the air? Is it all about my weak sides today?!
Knowing that he might fall at any moment—Rex unwillingly used his Lunar Gladiator Form so that he could have, lunar wings. However—as he did that, he felt nothing changing, "What in the world happened, Amanir?!"
[It's the wind, you are moving too fast! I'm not strong enough to turn you!]
Upon hearing this, Rex glanced over his shoulder.
Only now did he realize the blitzing speed at which the mutated eagle was flying—the wind whistled loudly in his ears, and the sheer force, created a surprising—visible arc against his body, pulling him down tightly.
As if that was not enough, the mutated eagle even made steep and violent maneuvers.
Like a rabid dog, it tried to shake Rex and Delta off of its back.
Moreover, Amanir was also not lying about what he said.
On Rex's back, he could see his Lunar spirit energy was trying to gather desperately.
But the wind blew on it hard, making it hard to manifest Rex's lunar wings.
Now, the lunar wings were only as small as fairy wings, and couldn't grow bigger than that.
About a dozen or two meters behind him, Delta was also in the same position.
Delta whimpered in pain when the swirl of flames licked her furs, skin—and every part of her body. Even her fangs—which were clinging tightly, to the chains were assaulted, by an acute pain that was overwhelming her.
Unable to endure it, she released the chains and plummeted from the sky.
"Delta!" Rex shouted when he saw her losing her grip.
From below, the others could be seen a figure bursting from the clouds, falling like a meteor.
All of them were quick to realize that it was Delta.
Gistella—who was making a blockage to stop the mutated treants' march also saw this, and she was shocked, knowing that the fall was too high, "Delta, you're being reckless! How can anyone reach you? You're too far!"
Someone could make a cushion for Delta to land on to negate the damage from the fall.
But Delta was falling to the other side, nobody was there.
Most of the others were focused on dealing with mutated treants as Liliya signaled.
It was true that Delta had gotten stronger, even reaching the ninth-rank realm, but this was the Second Breath—she would not survive the impact from falling at this height unscathed, and nobody could help her.
Rex's eyes bulged as time slowed down, his adrenaline was making its play.
Pressed in this tight situation, Rex's mind raced like a machine as he searched for a solution.
Controlling my kingly energy at this speed and distance would be too hard even for me.
Using my red force to reach her wouldn't work either, it's too weakened right now. Continue your journey on mvl
My elements, I could reach her and create a barrier, but could I maintain it?
Even though he was not lacking, in energy control—and reaction time—he knew that it would get harder to maintain anything on Delta as the distance between them was going to keep on increasing as she fell further.
Rex has no access to strengthening spells or skills on others, all of his abilities are selfish.
He has many enhancing abilities, but they were all abilities for himself.
As he thought about the situation, he realized something.
Moonlight energy... aside from lightning mana, I am extremely good, at controlling moonlight energy. I am also in my Werewolf form, so controlling it would be easier even as the distance between me and Delta spread apart!
Coming to that conclusion, Rex knew what he needed to do.
Maybe his current skills were made only for him to use, but not for their upgraded versions.
System! Upgrade the Pure Brace of Moonlight skill, and make it the version where I could use it on others!
<Checking Pure Brace of Moonlight upgraded versions...>
<Complete!>
<Moonlight Corruption skill fits the user's description!>
<Does the user want to upgrade Pure Brace of Moonlight skill for 20 Skill Upgrades?>
Do it!
<Affirmative, Pure Brace of Moonlight skill has now upgraded to Moonlight Corruption!>
Almost instantly after the last notification appeared—Rex pointed his hand towards Delta, his entire body, suddenly steaming with a devastating amount of moonlight energy as if his body was burning up, not from the mutated eagle's flames, but from within.
Like a hand that was reaching, a trail of moonlight energy was fired at Delta.
It was fired like a white laser, and when it hit Delta, it engulfed her entire body instantly.
Delta could instantly feel the change—her internal energy flow was suddenly changed by an invasive energy, Rex's moonlight energy. Giving no choice for her, the moonlight energy was transforming her from the inside.
Soon, the moonlight energy became one with her energy, strengthening her.
Corrupted, her eyes changed into a pure white color, gleaming with power from within.
But it was not done at that as it seeped out from the inside—and began morphing the armor she was wearing. As if having a conscience—the moonlight energy changed everything that was not made of moonlight energy.
Now, even Delta's armor was made by moonlight energy and has its properties changed.
Swoosh!
Bursting through the clouds with a trail of smoke, Delta snapped to her senses and activated her power that was enhanced by the moonlight energy—stiffening her furs and turning them into steel—her back hardened like a porcupine's quills because of that.
Delta braced for impact, her body now an armored fortress against the impending crash.
Kaboom!
Upon landing, the earth shook powerfully as gravity planted her into the ground.
Her crash made a huge crater that was visible even from way above.
Rex, still struggling above, watched in awe as he observed Delta falling from the sky.
"Did it work...?" He mused in concern.
Considering the height of the fall, it might now be enough.
However, he could finally breathe in relief as he saw a figure coming out of the crater and the smoke. Delta was fine, she was a little bit disoriented, from the powerful fall, but she seemed to be fine overall.
It was only then that he could focus back on the mutated eagle, "Fuck, that's not cool!"
"I thought we were already good, you even ate the fruit!" He added in annoyance.
Kree!
Upon hearing the mutated eagle yell back—a vein popped on Rex's forehead, as he could not believe that it said that, "Really? So you really thought that the fruit, was an offering from me, for your damn forgiveness? I'm not asking for your forgiveness you damn chicken!"
Kree!
"No, you are not the fucking phoenix of this place. That other bird, the falcon is the phoenix, and as long as it's around, you're going to be forever a chicken. I'm offering to get rid of that falcon, so let me ride you, and let's find that falcon!" Rex argued back.
Out of anything, he couldn't believe that he was arguing with a damn mutated bird right now.
In the middle of the sky, even.
He rarely argued verbally with his women, but this bird was getting on his nerves badly.
It's getting on his nerves more than the girls did.
"Wooah...! What are you doing?!" Rex shouted when the mutated eagle suddenly dived.
Not pleased with what Rex was saying, the mutated eagle folded both of its wings and made a steep dive to the ground. Having enough of this, Rex burst with power and used the chains to swing around and reach the mutated eagle's back.
Rex had his muscles bulging to the peak as he tried to stand up on its back.
Upon managing to stand, he grabbed the two ends of the chains.
Seeing that they were nearing the ground,—Rex gritted his teeth, and wrapped the chains on his arms tightly. With a powerful yank, he pulled on the chains—forcing the mutated eagle, to change its direction upwards.
Naturally, it was resisting, biting on the lightning chains tightly.
However, as Rex was becoming angrier, he managed to overpower the mutated eagle.
Swoosh!
Just when both of them were barely fifty meters above the ground—Rex managed to change the trajectory, and barely, avoided hitting the ground. He pulled on the chains tightly—before he shouted at the mutated bird, "Are you trying to kill us both, you stupid chicken!"
Rex couldn't believe that the mutated eagle was trying to slam them both to the ground.
With the speed they were going, they would both be splattered into meat paste.
Kreee!
"Are you a girl on her period? You're seriously trying to kill us both just because I called you a fucking chicken?!" Rex gasped, upon hearing the mutated eagle's answer. "I was only making a point, I want us to work together and get that falcon!"
Knowing that they were going nowhere, Rex finally gave in, "Fine, I'm sorry!"
"That mutated falcon is not the phoenix of the place, you are!" He added.
Upon saying that, the mutated eagle instantly became calm and flew steadily.
Surprisingly, Rex could even steer it with the lightning chains without any resistance.
Eventually, the two landed on the ground, right near Gistella.
Looking at Rex who was riding the mutated eagle, Gistella clapped her hands as she wasn't sure if Rex could tame the mutated eagle without force, but it seemed he did. "How did you do it? I was thinking that you would eventually use force"
Rex already climbed down from the mutated eagle, and he walked past Gistella.
"I don't want to talk about it," He muttered before he lay on the ground in exhaustion.
